So I've been breastfeeding for the past 6 months, and after a few growth spurts in the first couple months, my breast size finally leveled off and I decided to go ahead and get new bras. Well... that didn't last long. Last month, I noticed my breasts were feeling heavier, and the straps and the top of my bra cups ... were digging in. I've been putting off measuring, but it's only gotten worse. The quadboob is extremely noticeable, and my bra doesn't feel like it's properly supporting the weight of my breasts anymore, which has been causing bad back pain. I finally decided to get measured yesterday and I've gone up 2 cup sizes! I had been wearing a 40P from Aviana, but now I'm not sure where to go.

Try Ewa Michalak. They do a few tiers higher than a 40:16 in their FB line:
https://www.ewa-michalak.pl/eng_m_BRAS_Balconette-Bras_FB-223.html
Ewa is a Polish brand that does her own sizing style, using EU numbers and UK letters, so a 40:16 (your Aviana 40P) would be an Ewa 90KK.
She also has 90L, 90LL, and 90M available, so if you need two cups up, I'd try the 90LL and 90M. (40:18 & 40:19)
There is one entered here for the 90M if you want to compare measurements:
https://www.bratabase.com/browse/ewa-michalak/fb-kicia-szalowa-724/90M/
I have one FB in a 75KK, but oddly can still fit in to 32JJ panache tangos. But sympathy on the growth - i'm growing too. no babies, either - last one weaned over 10 years ago

I keep seeing all these adorable patterned/embroidered/crocheted high neck bikini and tankini tops (heck, even one-pieces) in department stores and online, and I want them soooo much, but I know there's 0 chance of them providing enough support since they've got no wire. I've been trying to contemplate whether it would look weird to wear one of my convertible bra sized bikini tops underneath, or maybe I could even find a bandeau that would be supportive enough (ha ha ha).

Ah yes, the never ending swimsuit conundrum. What kills me is when i find a totally adjustable tie back, halter tie bikini top with underwires & i could most likely fit my boobs into the L or XL cups... except for the 3” of push up padding. Why do all underwired OTR bikini tops have 3 boobs worth of padding I don’t want??
@elkie33 If you are sewing machine savvy, you could buy some of that embroidered fabric at a craft/sewing store (or even possibly Walmart) & add it to your existing bra bikini, creating a new custom supportive one. :-)
@lcl0706 Have you examined them to see if the padding could be cut out? I've done that in the past with bras, as with a bit of patience and a sharp exacto knife, it was fairly easy to do. It would require resewing the top edge from gore to strap, but it might be worth looking at the cups to see. Obviously if they appear to be glued to the actual fabric it may not work so well, but otherwise it could be doable! :-)

Does anyone do contact sports here?
Do you wear breast protectors? How do you wear them?

I do kickboxing (mostly light contact / point fighting) for over 8 years now.
I only got boob kicked a couple times while sparing (watch out for high front kicks!) and it didn't hurt too badly. So I never wore one. I also don't know any girls at my gym who wear them.
It may still be a good idea if you do full contact stuff or more intense sparing against bigger guys.

This was nice to watch! I was glad to see that her bra advice was actually correct!
@JJ exactly! I think she knows the bra :)
I personally am jealous of deep river like cleavage. But it’s not easy to have one in right fitting. Is there any tip to have one occasionally?

Mine are really close set so what works for me may not be the same, but I have good luck with plunges-especially deep plunges. So, based on my experience I'd suggest trying something like Comexim's Patricia :
http://www.bratabase.com/bra/dis3o/
Or Ewa Michalak's PL style:
http://www.bratabase.com/bra/disav/
The only thing that gives me cleavage is to wear a bra that is multiple sizes too small. To be honest I’m not sure that all breast shapes can get cleavage in a proper fit.

Hi,
I have a lot of skin marks on the inner part of my boobs and upper/middle torso. From my dermatologist I learned that they are seborrheic keratosis, iirc.
Now they have become itchy and reddish on the bra zone and near it I am going to get some advice at the farmacy for now and get ... a consultation again, of course.
Meanwhile: anyone have this? Advice?
I already try to use non-irritating products on this skin due to my seborrheic dermatitis and my chronic urticaria (yes, my skin is fun) and usually my t-shirt layer is cotton... Though my bras aren't. I am 40, not that old but not young either.
I will look for my softest bra today...

Would a bra guard help? I've seen them on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Bra+guard
Another faster aid might be to place a tissue (Kleenex, paper towel, or even toilet tissue) to line your bra and act as a cotton-ish barrier layer until a better solution arises? Or take an old T-shirt and cut out bra inserts to be a true cotton barrier for your bras?
For cotton bra options:
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Cotton+bras&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3ACotton+bras
And I believe Decent Exposures has cotton options as well. @DBMamaz and I think @Sovavosi have used then with positive experiences.
Thanks. I am in Europe but I will look into those

I am curious to hear what you guys experience with weight gain and loss and your cup size. I gained about 10 lbs over the fall/ winter, and have lost it again but my cup size doesn't seem to have gone down, although some of my bands are feeling looser. I have been this same weight through much ... of my adult life, and have been a couple of cup sizes smaller. I am dismayed to think I may have just grown. I am trying to lose a bit more weight, and am hopeful that I will get a little smaller. I always find it interesting that people link breast size with fat, because that hasn't been my experience. To specify I have read that most breasts are largely made up of fatty tissue. I am not super thin, but I am in the healthy BMI range. Beyond that, in the past I was an athlete, and still had a very large cup size, although smaller than my current one. I am curious to hear your experiences.

I have heard that from some other ppl, that while weight gain seems to translate to boob gain, weight loss does not always translate to boob loss. I was going through my drawers and aghast at how many too-small bras I have, hoping that I'll manage to loose some weight and some boobs. It seems hopeless tho.
If I'm within, say, 5 pounds of my average weight (either plus or minus), I don't gain or lose boob size. However, as soon as I go over that magical 5 pounds, I definitely start to gain/lose boob size.

I happened over a blog where a string of comments lead to the topic on our general annoyance of random strangers letting us know that we have massive tits yet they manage not to comment at all on small tits I practically view my set as a disability , all the while we are trying our best to be ... modest and hide the Heck out of our girls because well it just attracts the wrong attention, the attention you find from cat calling (I'm sure you know the type I speak of )where it isn't a complementary comment. But still we are supposed to love " oh wow your boobs are huge " that's just a generalization but the captain obvious who's let's you know this has manny almost hysterically clever ways to point out the obvoious. Anywho after reading what these girls said to such ummm....( I don't think I shouldn't categorize them as advances but for lack if a very word) advances I devised my own impromptu. And after he drew attention to my giant breasts I looked down in utter awe and with enthusiastic excitement I exclaimed" omg holy carp since when have I had these !?! I had no idea. ( my smile fading into a very serious don't f with me look ( one that my co-worker says usually is only seen with shoplifters)) I Will now excuse myself to admire them And thank the almighty spaghetti God of this bestowing gift.( I was now unapologetically staring him down)" as he was leaving quickly without making his purchase, I loudly asked my co-worker " have you seen these?!!! How come you didn't let me know ?" He couldn't stop laughing long enough to answer and when the customer in line stopped laughing she said it was so perfect since he had followed her in the store with a train of lude comments . I have to admit I've seen this guy trying pull some pretty bad stuff cuz I still normally wouldn't act so harsh( normally I see it as not the guys fault that their brain is built to seek out such physical traits and assume we would see them as compliments) but man I was super tired of this pighead. How about anyone else got any really Juicy, good or even maybe bad stories ? I'm interested how most guys are responded to with such actions.

My breasts have been steadily growing bigger the last 5 years and seem to go up a cup size every 5 months, which I expect will probably continue now that I've started taking the pill to deal with my endometriosis & ovarian cysts. My back has been hurting today and I just measured myself and realized I might have gone ... up a cup size or half-cup again. I was at 38H/I in November and now I might be a 38HH based on my measurements today. I'm not 100% sure since my period is due this week, so it could be just bloating and my bras getting stretched out. But since my bra size goes up frequently, I'm guessing it's time for new bras.
My fiancé mentioned that I may want to look into getting corsets to help with back support. Has anyone here switched to corsets or longline bras for back support or posture issues? Do you wear them everyday or alternate between your corsets and bras? I'm a little nervous about wearing a corset on a regular basis, but if it reduces back pain and the need to constantly buy new bras, then I'm willing to give it a go.

Hi! I went through a lengthy search last year to find a decent quality overbust corset for a reasonable price because there are days when I really can't handle the pressure of bra straps on my shoulders. The best quality/price/customer experience I had was with Orchard Corset. They are very helpful via email with figuring out what sizes and models will work. Ultimately, finding a corset with enough "spring" (difference between waist and bust) without ordering a custom corset was a challenge, and will be for anyone in the 10"+ range for difference between overbust and underbust measurement. I wound up purchasing the CS 530 from Orchard Corset. Unfortunately, I really don't consider it a replacement for a bra, it's great for back support and breast support, but doesn't do much in the way of containment. Also, obviously, not terrific for really active tasks. However, for working at the computer or other relatively stationary tasks it can offer a lot of relief and support.
I wear corsets for better support. But when I only have to stand long time or lift something heavy. Unless the corset will eventually bring muscular degeneration if you wear it every day.I’ve been there too. A few years ago I wore corset all most every day and I found that thanks to corset I really don’t need to have strength on my back, because the corset support my boobs. But at the end of winter, when the spring came, I found that my back and waist muscles actually got atrophying. So exercise! Exercising will help you! But also you have to consider other options too.

Can wearing too loose of a band cause or exacerbate migraines? I was having one a couple days ago and it would not leave, and since I was feeling awful I was wearing one of my Torrid bralettes, which are too big in the band for me. I wasn't feeling anything in my shoulders, but do you think this would have contributed to it? I haven't had one in a while and I don't want to make them any worse. 🙁

I found these to be spot on, but each person varies.
https://www.healthcentral.com/article/common-migraine-triggers
It is entirely possible that it acts as a catalyst to a migraine. For me, lights and dehydration are the main factors, with skipping a meal and stress being close behind. I know a man who gets them when he eats bananas or chocolate. No other foods, just those two.
I have had great luck with doing the following *at first sign of a migraine*:
Close your eyes and put your head down (think preschool nap time) for 10 to 20 minutes in a quiet/dark room, blocking out as much light as possible. If I do that it usually passes within that time. I don't open my eyes until the auric squiggles disappear.
If I don't (or can't) do this it goes from auras and pain to full blown debilitating head crushing death for 12 hours to 3 days........
Alas, I feel your pain
I've experienced pain in between my shoulderblades and up into my jaw from a too-loose band (more so than in my shoulders where you'd expect it to be) so, seems possible

Soooooo. Recently I revised all my bras and had to put away a bag with around 20 bras as they're currently too small (but I don't want to get rid of them as one day they will fit again, right?). Then I noticed that some of my 70E's started to create some quadboobs.. I was trying to explain it that ... maybe the bra runs small? Hell no. I've never experienced before falling out in a middle in my SMs but now this is a case.. Most of my BMs just cut into middle of my breasts and are feeling like they're plunge bras (except tall gore)..
I had to take an action. I've managed to get four 70Fs in BM cut and :
- Chaberek is perfect fuller coverage bra. Of course we all know that this particular bra runs small both in cups and band. So no surprise for me, fits like 65F and 1/2 .
- Mietusek - quite tight band, perfect on my larger breast and little loose on smaller breast
- Landrynek - tight band, feels like 65. Perfect on larger breast and little loose on smaller breast
- Szmaradg (thats my 3rd one... ) - I definietly need it in 70E. Band is looser than my 70DD but comfortable, can do it on 2nd row. Cups are little too large. I can take them in and should work well ?
Damn Marta! take care of yourself and move your ass to the gym... I cant restore my entire collection in 70F and at the same time, I cant be byting two sizes to have them for later I feel bit depresses.. but there's no motivation to do diet and go to the gym , and loosing weight isnt enough at the moment

I feel you.
I hate my body for putting every bit of weight I gain on my boobs and butt. So that things like Christmas or not working out for two weeks make half of my pants and bras unwearable.
Don't feel bad :(! I also keep numerous bras in different sizes in case I happen to change. In the past year or so, I've had quite a bit of boob shrinkage, but the rest of me stayed exactly the same (if not fatter).
I think it's also normal to put on weight as one ages, as long as it's not too much all at once.

My larger boob grew a little, enough to cause all my padded bras to not fit in various ways. Not a whole cup size, and my boobs didn't get any taller. Still the same weight also. I have a couple EM I ordered in the next size up, and the floppy cup tops are ridiculous. I know that this shouldn't matter because that's just how it is, but it still bothers me how tall they are on me. I'm stuck between bras cutting me or floppy cup tops. So extreme!

Have you ever tried taking in the top of the cup by sewing it in to the gore? I've done it with unlined bras and it helps the loose top a bit.
I have not, I wasn't sure where to begin. I thought about tucking the foam under on the S but there's so much of it, it looks weird.

As you might know, I am a guy who has been dealing with mild to moderate gynecomastia for the last several years. I have been through lots of different bras, and the most recent is the 36C - Wacoal » Sport Underwire Bra (855170) which has been mostly doing well. Lately, though, I have had a lot of ... discomfort in the lower part of my breasts, between the nipple and the IMF. I've found that if I apply pressure to that area the pain mostly goes away. This causes me to think I need a different bra that provides strong support in that area.
I'm almost to the point where I'd be okay with a push-up bra, because I know that would give padding and support in that area, but I was hoping that the community here might know of other options without going to those lengths.

I'm not sure that a push-up bra would be particularly helpful in this case. Push-up padding generally doesn't offer much extra support in the bottom half of the cup. It just takes up space in the cups that would otherwise be occupied by your breasts and displaces that breast tissue to give the appearance of more upper fullness. If applying pressure to the tender area seems to help, I would start by trying some compression style sports bras before resorting to push-up bras. I don't have any specific recommendations, unfortunately, but someone else might.
Well, in the off-hours, like when I'm just hanging out around the house or when I am doing something particularly physical and don't want to saturate my Wacoal bras in sweat, I wear a Nike Fit Dry. The problem with those is they stretch out too quickly. I have 4 or 5 of them that I purchased about the same time, and they just don't squeeze like they used to.

Ok, so I've noticed over the past couple months that my boobs may have gotten bigger. I haven't gained weight and am not pregnant or on birth control or anything like that. I did re-measure myself, but the difference is small enough that I can't really catch it with a measuring tape. However, I can definitely tell a difference when ... I put on my bras. Lately I've been wearing my 60F Ewa Ch Pawie Oka a lot (now my best-fitting bra) which used to be a smidgen too big and only fit perfectly when I was on my period. Now my nipples are really close to the top of the bra and almost pop out when I bend over. In my Comexim Geisha and Adore, which both used to fit pretty close to perfect, the left side (the bigger boob) almost bubbles over the top of the cup and the gore is no longer flush against my sternum. Even though the gore is nearly overlapping, it now sits lightly on my boobs.
The last sign is that when I run/go up and down stairs my boobs bounce painfully and I find myself holding them in place "/ This hasn't happened since before I switched over to a properly fitting bra. I'm just unsure if a 60HH will be too big, but I guess I'll need to try it?
I'm not sure if this is a question or just venting lol. Has anyone else gone through this? I guess I'm just unsure if growing boobs despite no other physical changes is common.

Maybe it's a redistribution of tissue due to a properly fitted bra. Maybe you had side tissue that came forward, for example. Some don't believe in tissue migration, but many have experienced it, so maybe that's what's going on?
Ugh. This sounds uncomfortable.

I've had to put on 3 different bras today because my boobs were complaining about the other two that I had tried to wear. Why so fussy?? Grr.

Symbiotic bras and breast possession......it's a conspiracy.....
Sorry, I'm having a seriously silly day today for some reason.
Sorry you're having bra vs breast issues today.
Maybe tomorrow will be better :/
I experience this, too. Loads of nodes and fluids that need to freely flow.
First off I’m so happy I found bratabase, and love how welcoming and helpful everyone else has been so far.
I feel like I can share my braventure so far, and some of my current frustrations. I’m going to rant 1st, and then tell the boring story of me and bra’s.
1. People who’s bands are way large and don’t ... understand down a band up a cup! It’s simple people! How do you not know your bra shouldn’t fit up between your shoulders in the back?! It makes you look slouchy too!
1.2 the fact that it’s generally not ok to explain bras to strangers.....
1.3 the fact that generally if you DO they think your wrong.....wtf don’t knock it till you tried it...jerks.
2. Who the heck are clothes made to actually fit?! and how come Sizes have no standardization what so ever!? I have 3 stacks of jeans right now, to big (some basically fall down, have 1pair of 4 in this one), fits, to small (can’t bend while wearing or can’t button, have 1pair of 8) other than 2 pair they are all a US6 or waist of 26 (tight fit) or 27 (loose fit). If I use size charts for brands I have they usually put me in an 8 or 10 which would fall off. I have shirts in everything from a XS to a L.
3. Things like “Your not a C cup” “your to small to be a D cup” (educate yourselves people) just the other day I asked the lady at the thrift store if they ever get in any really weird/odd bra sizes (such as 60, 65,70, or 8,10,) and if they do get them do they put those out (at one point they didn’t put shoes w/o us sizes out they sent them on to other places) she said they put out anything that’s not ruined, and that she put out a D cup the other day that was mismarked and no way it was a D (her tone of voice annoyed me).. I said well it could very well be if it’s a smaller band size because I am a D cup...... she looked at me funny.... she looked doubtful...then I explained band/cup sizes to her.....still doubtful.
I’m going to start at the beginning, at 12 for Christmas (which I would grow to hate) fabulous new outfit, white cotton blouse, my Dad (this part didn’t bother me my dad did all the embarrassing and awkward conversations, it would have been way weirder coming from my mom) informed me that I needed to start wearing a bra or cami under things because I was developing, but he said this right in front of my brother (14 at the time)....ugh..... I Opted to primarily wear baggy clothes for 2 years, after which I could find tighter 32B’s and they fit, they got to small I went to 34-36 A-B loose in the band but what choice did I have? At 16 I grew 4inches and somehow lost 20lbs in a manner of weeks, I was back to 32B (when I could find them in the god forsaken hick town we now lived in) and sewing my bands tighter (the fact that I had to made me feel like a freak) or slipping swim suit pads into a shelf cami. This sudden weight loss ment I hated myself, 5’7.5” and 106lbs I thought I looked disgusting and sick (in hindsight I looked quite nice and surprisingly heathy) this with years of comments about my “mosquito bites” and the “itty bitty titty committee“ of which I was apparently the president, the “thunder thighs” I somehow still had as small as I was, and the self projected “problems” that I hated my hair, I have long arms, tiny wrists, big hands and my feet look weird. I was sewing a lot of my clothing at that time (size 0,1,2 aren’t generally made for long arms and 32in inseam) and one day looking for bra altering information, realized the whole band down cup up thing and found figleaves. Happiest day! 30:3 was my best friend for 3 beautiful years until pregnancy. Then I bought some bravado bras, which covered a range of sizes and are actually pretty great (unless they changed since) everything I read said I’d likely gain 1-4 cup sizes.......ahahaha I gained nearly 50lbs band did not change (went from 28 to 29 under and that stayed) was measuring out at 30:6 by the end of pregnancy, then breast feeding 30:9 and so round and firm and cleavagey, I hated it! My back hurt, and I was constantly hitting my boobs when in tight spaces. Within a week of childbirth I had dropped right down to 126lbs (nearly 9lb baby, lucky genetics, and stress like only a newborn in the NICU can bring), so once I weened and the boobs shrank I was happy with my body, money was tight, I bought some cheap one sizes fits several in a Small and called it good. In the next several months I gained almost 30lbs again band didn’t change, got some 30:6 bras for my birthday, they where to wide set and one actually bruised me. Started working and in 2mo. Had dropped back down to 125-130 back to my smalls, “big” bras to SIL, she gave to a friend who loved them and fit almost perfectly, she had been wearing a 36:4, didn’t know small band big cup sizes existed (I felt good that day even though she was a b*tch).
From then up almost till 2nd pregnancy I fit 30:3, before pregnancy I started gaining weight and switched back over to Small on size bras. During pregnancy I didn’t care, I spent the better part of my 1st trimester with what felt like depression even though I wasn’t depressed, no energy, no appetite, sleeping constantly. Then I was like they are big, so what not wasting money on good bras when they won’t be the same size after. I definitely wasn’t breastfeeding this one, not because of the giant boobs but several other reasons. Ultimately no one told my body I wasn’t Brest feeding and my milk came in anyway, hospital nurses said it want and just leave boobs alone and wear a bra it would go away, the night I got home from hospital I was running a fever high enough to Warrant a hospital stay and the surface temp of my breast was higher than my oral temp...... and so I had to pump and ween (If it wasn’t for medication I honestly would have switched her at this pioint, anyone who has breast fed and had issues with production (I did with 1st kid) I dumped and cried at the waste! With first I was getting 4oz. Each at 3mo. in, this was 8oz each the first pump)... I measured just out of curiosity and was at 30:12. August was the first time since I have measured and attempted to get a bra I measured at 29under and 34.5 to 35 (hormones) around which means I should have started with a 30:4 or even 30:5 but I surely couldn’t be that size....... haha guess what? I was wrong.
So, I no longer believe I have disproportionately large thighs, I don’t care that my breasts aren’t “big” but based on the ones ive seen mine are about average for my body size. I don’t mind my arms, wrists, or hands, actually they’ve all been useful, although sleeves are still an issue. who cares about my feet anyway!?! My hair still sucks, but I have learned how to make it look nice-ish, if it where the 80’s I could have the envy of all big hair easily. My stomach jiggles a little and I don’t care enough to worry about it. My MANY stretch marks have never really bothered me. My long legs and high hips (my bottom rib is almost touching the top of my hip) still make comfortable well fitting pants an issue. My butt is generally very nice looking and I like that, it bothers me if it starts loosing shape enough that will I exercise to fix it....my husband likes my nice rear end so has a bearing on that. I have dark circles under my eyes (genetics mostly, thanks mom!) I don’t like them but I don’t hide them, (if someone has enough of a problem with my looks that it’s going to cause them to treat me differently or not want to be around me then they are shallow!) I don’t wear makeup (occasionally I will put on mascara and tinted moisturizer). I love my flaws and imperfections, in a world where perfect is what everyone seems to be looking for in looks, What good is pretty if the inside isn’t? I am me, I am nice and kind and thoughtful and creative, and I strive to be a better person each day, currently working on being quieter, less quick to judge, and on my temper.......also strive to have a nice bum....LOL. Oh and I no longer hate Christmas!

Welcome to Bratabase & thank you for sharing your journey! :-)
Here, Here!
It makes me so happy to read stories like this where one can still be so positive after all the crap and bull-shenanigans!
And I totally understand, you should see the way people look at me when I tell them I'm wearing a D-F cup! ;-)
Even my lifelong guy friend said "wait weren't you like a b-cup?" And I says, "yeah before I found out about real sizing!" Then I had to show him my bra label. Lol.

Hi everyone,
I received some very sad and upsetting news a couple of days ago. One of my best friends has been diagnosed with breast cancer, and she is also 32 weeks pregnant. I am feeling shocked, angry and very sad for my brilliant and amazing friend, who is so excited to be having her first baby. I was also completely ... unaware that you could get breast cancer while pregnant - I feel stupid about having been so clueless now, but I had never imagined cancer could intrude on a happy and healthy process like pregnancy. I wanted to spread awareness here, and mention a charity that helps expectant and new mums with cancer. It's a UK charity called Mummy's Star, and I found the information and advice here helpful, so I wanted to pass it on.
My friend found the lump early, so the prognosis is hopeful. She will have a course of chemo before the birth, and then one a couple of weeks post. I didn't know you could have chemotherapy while pregnant, and the idea scared me and my friend, but it is thought to be safe in the second and third trimesters - you can find more info in the charity I've linked. My friend is feeling robbed and is grieving for the loss of what she hoped would be a normal and healthy pregnancy and birth. But she is determined not to let the cancer ruin a joyful experience for her and her husband. I don't want to make people sad or scared, although I know it's hard not to be, I just wanted to make people aware, as this is a boobs and bras focused community - I hope this makes sense. If you are pregnant or ever become pregnant, please continue to check your breasts.
Health and happiness to all you gorgeous people, and I hope you're all having good days
