Padded vs pushup
What is the difference between the two? More specifically which one has more padding/ is thicker?
I hear padded and push up and think they're the same thing (like VS bras) but I know they're not.

I'm planning on ordering a few bras from the Polish brand Kostar. There's only one bra in the system. So I don't expect anyone to know their sizing, but I just need to know (in general) what would my polish size be.
The only two measurements I can provide in CMs is underbust 69cm, and bust 88cm.
From looking at Ewa's ... size chart I'd be a 70D, but that would be a UK 32D. My preferred sizes are either 28E or 30DD.
I tried 60E in Melissa Dessous and they were ridiculously small (in band and cup)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think your EU size would be 65e or 65f maybe I found most EU sized brands run a little bit tighter than UK sizes. The cups also runs a little bit smaller since EU sizing change size every 2cm and UK change every 2.54 cm (i.e 1").
EU sizing does not use double letters so 65e corresponds to 30dd roughly
I've never tried kostar so don't know about their sizing
Keep in mind that brands that use "EU" sizing are also not in agreement among them, Comexim uses 2cm step for their cups, Avocado uses 4cm and I believe that Ewa Michalak uses 1inch step. The key here would be to find what does Kostar uses.
Something that could be tried is to look at how that one bra compares to another the same size on another brand, on this case compared both 34:7 on Kostar Gisele Soft (164) and Cleo Meg Balconnet (6751) (since you recently reported that one to fit you):
http://www.bratabase.com/compare/dldmw/
This shows (inconclusively due the small sample) that Kostar will run a bit smaller in the cup and a tad wider. If you are needing a 30:5 then the size difference would be smaller than 1cm with your Meg so maybe just ordering the same size would work.

I came to the realization today that since I'm so happy in my Polish bras, my nude Deco needs replacement-- especially since the Anna Pardal I have in the right size doesn't work as a nude on me. I tried to wear my Deco this morning, and couldn't keep it on for 5 minutes: hated the clothed shape compared with ... my Polish bras, the width of the wires and their tendency to creep out of my IMF drove me nuts, and it just didn't feel good.
So, although I still have measuring, reviews, etc to do for other bras, I ordered the Comexim Elena half-cup. I requested them custom-made as 3-part half-cups, since they're typically 2-part. The 3-part HC works well for lcl0706 and I think our shapes are pretty similar, plus my CH Cherry in 65FF has kinda become a favorite (if only the extra cleavage-straps were clip-on!) so I feel like it's a decent bet. I ordered the Elena in a couple of different sizes, so whatever doesn't work will end up on the listings here in the near future.

Yay! I hope your order arrives soon. :-) :-)
I am also thinking of trying the Elena. I will wait to see your review.
I never tried any of Elomis bandless bras. I read that they are more comfortable, since the band does not roll up under the boobs. But I also fear they will be weaker than for example Elomi Caitlyn.
I had a few bandless bras back in they days from Cleo but none worked for me.
Has anyone tried Elomi Louisa Bandless Bra (4070) or Elomi Yolanda Bandless Bra (8510) and can say something about the fit and support?
Filed under Bra sizing and fit
I know almost all my Elomi bras will stay on without use of their straps as I like them with a tight band. I would bet, unless you were swing dancing, they would be okay BUT, if you do get one, please let me err I mean us (;) all know how it works out for you! Sometimes Ebay has really good prices on Elomi bras.
Vadaslava I also find Elomi bras especially the Caitlyn very supportive, but on those that only go up to JJ -cup, I probably have to alter the bands since I need 34 bands but at least K cups. I'd let you know how it went, if I buy some from Ebay.
I recently emailed Comexim asking if Brigitte was available in 60K, but there were none left so I ordered 60J instead (the only one they had). However last night Joanna emailed me asking whether I'd like 60K as they apparently have one left.
I own a standard Comexim Ingrid in 60K which fits quite well. Pictures of how it fit me ... are here: http://imgur.com/a/4v4SL
I've heard Brigitte is somewhat closed on top (not sure how much compared to Ingrid) but I've also heard that it runs a little bigger than other Comexim plunges (possibly a higher gore and deeper cups?).
So, my fellow Bratabase users, should I order size 60J or 60K (both standard/unaltered)?

@kubrika What are your thoughts?
Could someone who is familiar with Comexim's sizing help me out? Based on their size chart I would be about an 80J, but I've also read some places online that you should measure following their size chart and then sister size down to your normal band size (I wear a 32 usually, so I think thats the equivalent of ... a 70) but doing that looks like it would make me about a 70M or N (their size chart doesn't actually go out that far so I don't know if they even make them that large). Any advice on how to figure out a size would be appreciated!

Yes, Comexim does make M cups and above (at least to P cup that I've seen). They are usually custom orders, which is why you don't see them available on their website. My most recent order was for a 70N (UK 32JJ) myself. :) Look through some Comexim entries here on Bratabase and you'll see entries for larger cup sizes.
What size do you wear in other brands? That would be more helpful than just your measurements. You can use the compare brands feature on Bratabase to see size similarities. For example, here is a comparison of Panache's UK sizes to Comexim's size chart. http://www.bratabase.com/browse/panache/vs/brand/comexim/
If you want help with Comexim, I highly recommend Jaimie at Bra Obsessed. She can help you figure out a size, any alterations you may need, and order for
you. http://braobsessed.com
I measure at a 32J, though I haven't been able to find a bra that fits quite right yet because I seem to be too projected for everything I've tried so far, which is why I'm trying out some Polish brands. It looks like a 70M would be a good starting place for me. Thanks for your help!
I want to buy the high-waisted Cleo Cassie bottom, but I don't know what size to order.... How and what are you supposed to measure to get your size? Or do you just guess?

I have the Cassie high waisted brief and find it runs TTS. It's S/UK10 which fits my 26.5 waist and 37" hips.
Figleaves has a chart which has measurements along with US and UK sizing:
http://www.figleaves.com/us/fitting-room/figleaves-ladies-sizing/
I have the Cassie high waisted brief too! It's a 14, which is my usual size for Cleo bottoms, and I'm abt 40 inches at the fullest part of my hips. Hope that helps!

Any ideas what horizontal wrinkles on an unlined cup might mean?
I bought a Cleo Alexa in 30FF from another Bratabase user, figuring I might get away with a smaller size since it's so open on top. It looks like it fits pretty well, but it's almost like my breasts are trying to push the cups out?

Near the underwire?
Nope! Between the outer side of the underwire and the apex of the bra. Lol like speed lines behind a person in a comic!

I am downright thrilled when I find a bra that is in a color other than white, beige or black. Just recently came home with a polka dot and a red bra, it just made me so happy.
Yeah, I'm with rolls and curves - I'm a 32/34 J/JJ and I've been on the hunt for a beige bra and have been struggling to find one. Well, there are a few I could buy at Ewa Michalak I guess. But there are NO bras in stores that fit me at all anyways.
The comments are nasty

So by popular request, I've gotten all down and nerdy regarding the differences (and similarities) between Ewa Michalak's S cut and Comexim's Plunge cut. Hopefully it's a helpful guide! Let me know if there's anything you want to see added!

You are amazing! I love the comparisons you and lcl0706 have worked up for us!
Now I understand why the Ewa S fits better than the Comexim plunge. I sincerely appreciate your effort!!

xposted to ABTF
I have these both in my shopping cart right now, but I thought I'd check with y'all first. Do you think either of these are likely to fit me?
From a few months ago, possibly a bit smaller than this now:
UB - 27"
TUB - 26"
Bust - 31.25"
Leaning Bust - 32"
My best fitting bras right now are a Freya Gem ... Balconnet in 28D and Aerie Sunnie Stretch in 30C. Both bands are too big and the Sunnie is too shallow, but both are workable.
I'm thinking that the Utopia will be too shallow, but there's only one review on it so it's hard to tell. Someone in ABTF recommended me the Starlet a few months ago, so maybe that will work?
Thank you for your help!

So I'm finally taking my first, long awaited trip to New York in a month (!) and started wondering what kind of bra shopping I could do up there! I came here first and plan on doing more research, but I was wondering if you all knew of some good places to bra shop!
Filed under Bra sizing and fit
I have an answer to my own question! While I was in NY I stopped in Brooklyn Fox lingerie after randomly coming across it (while my boyfriend and his friend waited patiently outside lol). They have a rather small store, but there is quite a good selection of diverse brands and sizes despite the size. The sales associate I spoke with was very knowledgable and friendly, and we hit it off immediately after I told her I was looking for 28FFs- she totally knew what I was talking about! I tried on a few really unique bras in 30F, although ultimately I walked away with a cup-less slip/ lacy nightie thing :)
Another great place I went to with my best friend was Journelle in Manhattan, right by Union Square. Again, the sales associate we worked with was very knowledgable (could totally hold her own here!) and helped me to fit my newly-bravangalised friend in bras that supported her! We both ended up walking away with bras, again, while me poor boyfriend waited patiently for us. I would highly recommend both of these places if you happen to find yourself in New York!
So I love my 60FF - Ewa Michalak » S Syrena , but I would love to try some of the Polish half cups as well! I adore at the moment especially EM Klaudyna and Comexim Victoria. However, I have close-set breasts with center fullness, and I'm not sure how the higher center gores would work for me.
For ... some brands (especially Panache), the firm gores get really uncomfortable, like in 28FF - Cleo » Juna Balconnet Bra (6461). Polish higher gores so far don't seem to cause much discomfort, they just don't tack. As in my 60HH - Comexim » Ingrid Biustonosz (289) (This was supposed to have lowered gore btw but I don't think it does).
Then again, I'm thinking that maybe half cups would be better in the way that they push the breasts upwards, instead of together and towards the gore. I don't know, suggestions? Cup shape seems maybe better in the half cups. (P.S. I wanna try the PL as well, I'm quite sure that it would be perfection!)

I love my one fitting bra: Comexin plunge. Because I have close set breasts (once they are lifted), I'm ordering my next Comexin in a half cup with overlapping wires at the gore. We are so fortunate they "make to order"! Have no fear :-) :-)
My Comexim Victoria have the wires overlapping at the top of the gore which is great for my very close set breasts and I didn't even havet to ask for it :)

In the interest of full disclosure, the S is worn with pads and the M is worn without. The M is a cup too small for me and I will be reordering a 65F.

Both are lovely on you! After seeing this, I may try the M cut at some point. I love that low gore, and it does look more projected than 3D. I wonder how wide it gets in a cup size up...
I don't know, I'll tell you in about 2 months ;)
I can't imagine it being wider than 5" though.
I think the M has better bottom space than the S even though the S is overall more projected. Plus with the shorter slightly more closed cups, it's friendlier to short roots.

People of Bratabase, I need your advice! I am debating ordering a Tutti Rouge Beatrice Bra , but I am unfamiliar with the brand and nobody has upload measurements/reviews of it on here. Does it run true to size? Should I order my Panache size? Thanks

My experience with Tutti Rouge: the bands seem to be consistently tight. I have yet to try one where the band runs loose. I can wear 28DD in Freya, Curvy Kate, and some Cleos but I have to wear 30D in Tutti Rouge. In my size range the cups are broad enough and shallow enough for me; I'm not sure whether they are the same way in larger sizes.
It says on here it is the same cut as the Lottie, which has some measurements, not tons though.

I am interested in getting the Curvy Kate Vixen and the Curvy Kate Kitty, both in 28DD. Does anyone know what breast shapes these styles cater to?

I'm trying to buy ny friends Comexim bras as their birthday presents. However I am not used to smaller size since my size have always been plus one. So what size do you think 76cm in comexim? And what comexim size is equal to 30B uk size? I need your help😞 Thanks!

What style are you looking at? I got a one seam half cup and it ran shallow. I sized up one cup size and it was a cup size small. The band (65/30) was kind of firm but not in a too tight sort of way. Mine stretched to 29 inches before distorting.
For 76 underbust I would go for 75 band as I'm 73cm and find some 70s little tight and need to use with extender ;)
The 30B in Comexim could be around 65d or even 70c as it depends how tight you like

I'm from the UK and I'm a 34FF. I know this translates as a 34H in the USA, but Soma doesn't carry this size (however I know they do a G cup) I've bought bras from here before and I find them so comfy. I tried on half the store and ending up buying 2 lovely bras both in different sizes.
Just wondering how other people find their sizes and any advice for finding a good alternative size.
Filed under Bra sizing and fit
Welcome to the site!
About finding an alternative size, I'd recommend to try a search by measurements ;)
Start with a bra that fits you the best as baseline and search by measurements here: http://www.bratabase.com/search/
That will show you a load of bras that are close to the one you started with. There you can filter by brand and see what's available.
Alternatively, you could try and see what sizes come up in the recommendations: http://www.bratabase.com/recommendations/request/
Soma's G cup is equivalent to a 7 cup (http://www.bratabase.com/browse/soma/size-range/), which would be an F cup in popular UK sizes: http://www.bratabase.com/browse/soma/vs/brand/freya/
Sadly, none of the users that have added Soma bras in size 34G wrote a review :( : http://www.bratabase.com/browse/soma/size-range/34G/reviews/
But you can read reviews about the brand in general here: http://www.bratabase.com/browse/soma/reviews/
Can anyone help me with a bit of Polish? I checked r/ABraThatFits for the Polish translation guide, and this request isn't on the list:
"Can you overlap the gore on [bra name] for me?"
I would imagine Comexim does take these requests since they manufactured Anna Pardal's bras and she offered overlapping gores. I just don't know how to ask.

do you mean overlapping underwires?

Thank you!

I could really use some suggestions for what to try next.
I recently got some incredibly helpful feedback on here, with some recommendations on what features to look for as I continue on this maddening bra fitting quest. I have tried quite a number of things so far and have struggled to understand what is causing fit problems. The ... advice I got gave me a lot of clarity. In addition to having very soft and deflated boobs, they are apparently very wide set, so there is a lot of boob towards the outer sides. Well, "a lot" is a relative term, since they are pretty small overall. So, I don't have wide roots, like I had started thinking. They're more like average, but the wide set makes cups that often fit wide roots feel comfortable on the sides. Since learning I've been wearing the wrong size, one of the most startling things when trying on new styles and sizes was how well supported the sides feel. I've spent 20 years in padded push-up bras. I had no idea what was not being supported!
Anyway, I thought I was shallow, but now I'm not as certain. My projection in a soft cup is 1.75 inches. By process of elimination, I am somewhere around a 28-30 D-DD. In almost every bra, I end up with empty space in the area where cup and strap meet, while quadding out of the inner/upper cup (towards sternum).
OK, so it has been suggested that I try bras that have a very wide gore with a medium to wide wire that are soft and flexible. I should look for something with short cups that have more volume on the outer half. These suggestions are great, but I am just not sure how to go about figuring out what to try! I have tried all sorts of searches using parts of that terminology and am starting to feel like I'm running in circles.
I don't have a store that sells < 32 bands nearby, but do have Amazon Prime, and have been making full use of them membership for the past couple of months. I have sent back all but one bra (The Charlotte, which I kind of love, even though the band's too tight.) I do not have a lot of money, so I can only try one or two at a time.
Anyone out there with similar issues and similar size? Any ideas on what to try next?
I currently have 23 items in my Amazon wish list, each of which was was added after much obsessive reading of reviews on here/Amazon/abrathatfits and studying pictures on here. I can't believe how intense this determination has become. For mental health's sake, I have to limit my bra seeking searches to an hour or two at a time, because I have found that if I don't exhibit some control, I can literally spend ALL day at it. (Yes, I currently have far too much time on my hands. LOL) Of course, spending that much time on a futile quest winds up being a delightful combination of frustrating and depressing.
Ultimately, I want to find something that looks and feels sexy. But, right now, I just want to find anything that actually fits. :/

I dont know much about your size range, but for me, gapping near where the straps hit the cup can be too-tall cup or too much cup on the outside. but quadding near the center means there's not enough center fullness and the cups could even actually be TOO far apart? Pictures would help . . .
looked over some of your other bras. if the parfait fits, why not just buy more of those? From seeing some of your fit problems, I think your breasts might be narrow but wide-set, which is (I think) unusual, and your breasts look to probably be at least a cup size different from each other (as are mine). so nothing will be perfect. but you might look at other positive reviews of the parfait and look for 'also fit her' link for ideas?
I was just going to suggest Parfait because the gores are super wide on that brand. I have an unlined Parfait bra in 30D for sale, new with tags, if you're interested let me know if you have any questions about it. I don't remember how soft the wires are but I can easily dig it out of my pile of bras and check!
Also, Freya half cups might work for you.

Prettyncharmeuse The pushups usually have a cookie or a chick fillet built into the bottom of the cup to "Pushup" and usually in a little bit.
In the common american vernacular, they're largely the same, because most women solely wear molded bras so they only refer to bras with *extra* padding as "padded."
However, around here, padded just means any bra containing any layer of padding, because we wear a lot more unpadded bras :) pushup would be any bra inteaded to push up the breasts, usually with an extra piece of padding at the bottom.
