I'm trying to add a new bra, but it's from a brand that doesn't use index sizing - the bra is just labelled "size 4", and I get an error message when I put that in the size field. Is there a way to enter sizes for bras like this? It's by the brand Cottonique, which seems to be new to Bratabase.

I am seriously drooling over them, I need to figure out how to get the Mintaka, but Zulily's markup was crazy.
I don't think I've seen anyone get theirs yet. Maybe sayitifyoumeanit ?
I sent them a message yesterday and they got back to me saying there was an unexpected shipping delay and they have contacted the vendor to fill the rest of the orders as quickly as possible. They apologized and even put some money in my account even though I wasn't expecting anything!
Zulily's customer services is usually pretty good and it never hurts to follow up with them :)

To anyone who has had problems with bras not showing 100% complete:
I saw some adventures a while back about not being able to get a bra to 100% even though all sections were completed. I'm not sure if anyone ever found a fix to this; I think I recall someone deleting and re-adding their bra because it bothered them ... so much.
This happened to me today; I finally added fit and a review to a bra I've had for about a month, but it only showed 90%. However, I clicked on the other sections (e.g. "Pictures") and re-saved, and it went to 100%! For me, I fixed it on the first try: through pictures. Someone else may have to try more than just that one. I hope this can fix the problem that a few of you have been having!!

Yup, I've had the same thing happen when I've left the fit section unmarked. I had to fill in that bit twice to get it to 100%. Never happened when I do every section in the right order though, as they appear on the page.
I've noticed this before too. The easiest way for me is to click on the bra, click edit and click any box and save changes :)

The main change is that the size range for the models now shows in a table. This is an improvement over the list we had on the past that made it difficult to scan the sizes and see the distance between sizes.
Many of the popular brands have very wide tables, so we need full screen width ... to fit it. That required to change the layout in general.
I am happy with the visuals now, the tables will show the index sizes as well on the headings and will adjust for all those weird situations we can run into hopefully without breaking.
Also, now these pages should look better on your phone. The size range tables will change to a more fit representation on narrow screens.
Moved lots of the cruft that was on the sidebar to a new "Details" page on the top menu. That gives room to add more structured information about models.

Nice, but I found a little inconsistency: The header with the model's name etc. is always there, but when you click on "listings", the header suddenly disappears. You cannot go back to the model page easily. If that'd work, it'd be perfect.

Yes, when you add your bras we will get a notification if your measurements are far from the current values, in such case we will ask to please verify that the number is correct or if indeed the bra has that particular number. You will get an email and will also see that your bra is marked for verification on "My bras".
You can either reply that email or just correct or confirm your measurements straight from your bra's page.
We do this because in many cases new users tend to measure the cup's width including the wires channel that can add a couple of cm to the result. Also many confuse the cup depth and such.
We do not have an option yet for other users to report your measurements. So all the notifications you will get are sent by us.

I added a few yesterday so when looking at a brand page you can find their official Facebook and Twitter links. We'll keep adding these as we find them.

Off topic but I noticed on a bra the other day it had "Suggest for (then the pictures for Wide Root, Wide Set, and something else) but this one bra is the only one I've seen it on. Have you stopped doing that or is that a work in progress. Cause I like that idea!
Edit: its the @Freya Jolie in 28DD but doesn't show up on either sister size for it.

That feature, and the replacement both depend on users setting their breast shapes on their measurements, and users adding bras that get reported as good fit.

How far exactly are we meant to stretch our bands when measuring again? The last two I've stretched until I had noticeable tension and stopped there, but the site says both are too small. I'd really rather not pull so hard that I damage my bras.

I usually stretch it as far as I can without distorting the wires.
I posted about that inside a different whine (I think) - my stretched bands are usually also shorter than whatever else is already posted. But it averages them all out, so I guess its ok. I dont want to destroy it or something.

So, I did everything I could to get my 38H - Cacique » (11070879) to 100% on here, then saw that it would never go above 90% because it was initially entered with just the code. I did some digging and saw that it's a Smooth Balconette, so I went to put that in, and BAM, I'm doing a whole new bra entry, so now I have the same bra on here twice. Is there a way to transfer over the data and remove the old entry? That 90% will drive me crazy forever otherwise.

You can delete the data once you've copied it over to your new bra. Then once the data is deleted you can delete the first bra.

There was a bit of work done on the site during the weekend. One feature you may notice is that when making a new listing, you have the option to link any of your lists.
This is useful if you want to link to your wishlist or any list that has what you're interested on. You can continue adding to the list after making the listing and people will always get the recent version.

I'd like to make a plea to those of you who add bras to the Bratabase. Please, please, *please* add bra measurements to your entry! I'm trying to find a bra that will fit my wide, shallow boobs, and large band size, (somewhere in the nebulous 40:6 range) and it's soooo frustrating to ... look at the details of a bra and find that those critical cup measurements are missing. It makes it impossible to assess how that bra might fit my needs.
And I have a question. What is the importance of wire length? Why would I want a longer or shorter wire?

I am trying to add all of mine! Not anywhere near your size range, tho - 32J mostly. But I'm also adding pictures - I LOVE the pictures, I love SEEING how different shapes look in the actual bra. And reading real, descriptive reviews. My first few reviews were bad because I didnt realize what kind of information is actually helpful.
I dont know exactly how it relates to the measurements, but I know some ppl find longer wires poke them in the arm pits, and some people complain that shorter wires dont encase their whole breast so it spills out on top (I think esp on the outside)
dbmamaz, I absolutely agree on the photos! Listen, I know how hard it is to take those photos. It takes all I have to take and post bra *and* naked boob photos of myself. I know I'm not the only one with horrid body issues, but I try to allow them as little control as possible over what I do.
If my actions can help someone else gain even just a little more self-acceptance, then it's worth doing.
I know my size range is an outlier, but I also know, from my background in software engineering, that getting enough real data is vital for anything approaching valid statistical analysis.

Yet another breast shapes update, but that's because lots of stuff happened to it last week.
Just like you can set your (cartoon) breast shapes on your measurements, now you can also associate (real) breast shapes entries to them. This is very important and can make a huge difference.
How to do it:
-----------------
First go to the breasts gallery, create a set and ... pick what boobs look most like yours.
***IMPORTANT**: They have to be a match in size *AND* shape.
If you don't find any that's fine you don't have to do it (but pester your twin to submit) or you can do it later in time.
Then, go to this link: http://www.bratabase.com/profile/measurements/set-shape-set/
that will ask you to pick which is the set that matches you. You can always see this link as a button on your measurements' page.
This will allow us to know, which bras fit which boobs, and show which boobs are fit for each bra. We had something similar in the past with the regular shapes, but they don't cater size so the associations were very poor. Now you will be able to look at a shape and see which sizes on what models and brands worked for it.
If you don't haven't picked boobs like yours, go do it

Whew! I just contributed photos to the breast shape gallery. That was *not* an easy thing to do and I'm not at all sure how I feel about it! But if you haven't contributed, you might consider doing so, to add more valuable data to the Bratabase. If I can do it, anyone can.
