Before finding my right size...
Wow, what a compelling prompt!
Most recently before ordering closer to the correct sizes online, I went to Forever 21. The 32A bras there felt too tight on me so I got a 2-pack of cheap 34A bras (Forever 21 house brand). What prompted this decision was a feeling that my breasts were itty-bitty so no way could I fill out a B cup. At no point did I measure my body. The bras had molded cups, shallow as heck. They made my bust look flatter than it really is, and also the straps fell down my shoulders, and the entire bra would shift around my torso all day long. Reaching for objects or turning to look to the side were fraught with peril.
To illustrate the sheer ridiculousness of a 34A bra on my body, my underbust is 26-27" and my bust is 32-33". My measured size is anywhere from 26-28 DD-F depending on bloating, etc. Now that I'm in better bras, my bust looks bigger without any padding, I have actual support, and I can reach up or down to get something without having to excuse myself to the restroom to place my bra back over my boobs.
