Got bras? Create an account

I just properly handwashed a bra for the first time! I feel like an adult. One thing I'm not sure about though is drying. I get that it's supposed to air dry, but what about all the excess water? Is there a way a proper way to gently squeeze it from the cup? I just fold the bra along the seams and carefully pressed to get most of it out, then propped the cups up and put it on a towel to finish drying. I was just afraid it would take forever if I didn't get rid of some excess water first.

  • That's pretty much what I do, I think as long as you don't significantly deform moulded cups they should be OK. Go nuts with unlined bras. You could also try putting moulded bras on top of a towel and blotting them with another towel to soak up excess water. I've heard good things about using salad spinners to remove water from bras as well.

  • The salad spinner seems like a great idea! I went delicate with this one because I was washing it to sell, but next time I'll try the blotting technique. Our common area gets pretty warm so I'm sure it won't take too too long to dry.
