Projection

Hi everyone I was just wondering how to tell if I have average or a lot of projection? Is it by measurement or look? I'm sure they are projected, but just not sure of the level. Also does center fullness affect the fit of bras, possibly making you think you are more projected than you are? Thanks.

Kindly,

Your fellow bratabasian

  • What's tricky is that when we say someone has a lot of projection it is not an absolute thing. What's considered projected in one size range is considered just average in another, and shallow in yet another.

If the bras you've listed on Bratabase are representative of your current size range then I'd say it's almost a non-question for you. On someone in the 30-32H/HH/J range, by definition, there is not enough torso width for the breast tissue to spread out so it's sort of impossible to be NON-projected... the tissue may be mostly on the front of your torso or you may have a lot of side tissue but either way, it's going to project out a fair bit. There will be degrees of projection, for example if you have 2 32H wearing ladies and you photograph them from the side wearing the same bra, one might have boobs that "stick out" only 5.5" from her chest wall whereas the other one might have a measurable projection of 6.5" instead, so you know the latter person will probably prefer narrower and deeper cup designs. Also if one of them has vertically shorter roots she will FEEL like her boobs stick out more even though they may not, it's just a proportions thing, and she will in fact need the same cup depth, just with less height. But overall it is rare to find someone in your size range who believes she has a shallow shape, much less actually has one!

Now to come to center fullness: yes, if you are particularly full at the center, many bras will not tack simply because they lack volume there specifically (even if their overall volume is the same or more as your breast volume). So this can certainly lead people to believe they need bigger and bigger cups because bras that aren't cut optimally to suit their center fullness will always quad and fail to tack, until they try on a cup that is very much bigger than their actual boob volume and thus does in fact tack despite the relative lack of room near the gore.

  • @wendybien oh ok I see I was just wondering if there was any determining factors. I have short roots but I don't feel that they are super projected, I guess because they look "fluffy?" lol for lack of a better word. They are not firm rather semi-soft, I guess they'd have to be relatively projected due to my h.perimeter being 14". I don't know I think I'm still in the I can't believe I'm that size phase (´・_・`).
