Bras and non-oval chests
Krissie reminded me the other day of something I learned about myself a couple of years ago. I don't have a "standard" oval shaped chest. Most bras are designed with an oval chest in mind, and there seems to be a dearth of bras available for the rest of us. I personally am more of a barrel shape than the egg-shape mentioned in the article, I'm petite with high-set boobs, and I have narrow shoulders. Do you share my shape? Read this and see if it sounds like it describes you (and be sure to check out the article and pictures):
"If you have a problem of your bra cups being too far apart (the bust points splaying apart), bra straps digging into the front crease of your chest and arm, and not having enough bra in the front of the cups (and excess room at the sides of cups), this topic is for you. You may also have a related problem of having shirts riding up into your neck and having to pull them down constantly."
For me, the answer was yes, yes, and YES!!! The article is quite old, but she mentions a certain style of Wacoal bra that is supposed to fit really well, though I'm sure long since discontinued (the Lunaire Versailles is similar and a comfortable bra if you are in it's size range and need something NOW). The problem(s) with that bra is that 1) I am in my 20's, I don't want to wear lingerie that even my grandma is too sexy for, 2) Wacoal and my body just don't mesh--I've tried on every Wacoal Dillard's has to offer (even the super ugly ones--of which there is an impressively large number) and they just aren't compatible with my chest, & 3) I know that there are more than just a handful of us with this issue--why aren't more companies making something that works for us?!
So I'm hoping to find out if there are other Bratabase users with this issue and what bras work best for them. The article mentions that pushup bras tend to be the most comfortable, and I've found this to be true for myself. I'm curious to see how many of us there are, and what brands/styles will crop up the most.

And now my whole comment disappeared. :(
Anyway, I have all of those problems. I'm not sure i my ribcage is that egg-shaped though, but it is definitly more egg shaped than the ovals shape. I have slight dip in the absolut front rather than that pointy thing, but still the decription matches perfectly. (By the way, Fashion Incubator is one of my favourite blogs) I do wear a slightly more extreme size though as a 28JJ, which means that problems gets even more exaggerated because of just simply bad grading.
What has worked the best for me is bras that are extremly forward facing. I'm mainly thinking of unpadded Cleos and Ewa Michalak in general, espeically the S and Pl styles. I still have issues with straps and fabric cutting into my arms though, but I think that it might be partly also because of the bad grading mentioned earlier.
I definitely think I'm egg-shaped! I'm not certain, but I definitely think so after reading the linked post!
