If straps on a bra aren't too tight but they are painful, does it generally mean the band is too big?Or what could be the issue?

I have a racerback sports bra that I haven't worn for a while, but finally dug it out again earlier to run around with my dog.

It was never painful before, but now my shoulder is hurting like crazy. To boot, I have neuropathy and now can't really move my arm properly xD hooray! But that also signals that the straps may have been too tight(this normally only happens when I pinch a nerve), yet, they definitely weren't o_O

It stretches to 29-30", and where the band sits on me, I reach about 27-28".
I've also gone down a cup or two, so that'd make it even weirder to me if this is an issue with band size because my boobs aren't heavy or weighty in the least bit. If it weren't for trying to disguise my shape, I wouldn't even need a bra anymore..and again, straps weren't tight, which I thought would have been the issue if the band actually were too big because you end up using the straps as your support instead of the band, correct?

As for the straps themselves, they are very wide and plushy.

Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be? I never had any problems with it before. I actually haven't even had this happen since I was wearing 36 bands and had pretty large boobs. I'm confused. Am I possibly just not compatible with the bra anymore or something?

  • I'm a little confused about how you keep switching between talking about the band and the straps, for some reason I'm not really understanding the question. But it could be the racer strap hits you in a bad place now, or the overall bad fit, idk. I mean, try not wearing it for another 2 months and try it again?

  • I think the shape of cups could be the issue. During the migration period( I mean when the breast tissue over my back, side or wherever went to the breasts) my size got to change a lot. And all of my bras I bought also became incompatible with my boobs because my shape changed as well as the size. They got to be more and more projected. As a result(I think), I experienced the shoulder pain too. I think I wore bras that were too shallow to support the weight of boobs and it is the main reason to get the shoulder pain. At that time I prefered and wore the padded half cup bras from CK a lot. Anyway, the shoulder pain has gone since I got therapy and wore more projected cups.
