That feeling when: you get bras in the mail and they don't fit, but you're happy because the specific ways in which they don't fit are exactly as you suspected.

My strapless hunt continues, but I think I have a strong candidate in the Prima Donna Prima Donna Satin Strapless Bra (0161331) !

Prima Donna is one of my better matches, but it's still a bit too shallow / wide; now that I know what I'm looking for, I notice the slight wrinkling combined with some quadding immediately. Still, the soft cups of the Satin feel forgiving, and like they might work out.

I complicated matters for myself by going off birth control recently, and I appear to have changed sizes a bit between that and getting active. I'm now pretty firmly a 30G instead of a 32G, but since it took me forever to realize I needed projection, I'm not sure how much of going down a cup size is the hormones and running, vs how much is me no longer being quite so confused. (I kept buying shallow bras and having to go up cup sizes, so I was confused about being a GG for a long time.)

ANYWAY, SoL in Denver told me that PD doesn't actually make a 30G, but being SoL they're going to alter a 32F down for me free of charge. \o/ I begged them to send it as a 32F first so I can be sure the cup size and shape are right before they take scissors to it, so I'll also measure it before I send it back :P (Free return shipping FTW, in the USA.)

In more exciting news, I'm getting a Katherine Hamilton Intimates bra. :o It's a sample they happened to have in 30G before they go officially on the market in May.

I contacted the company through Bosoms Galore and after explaining my needs was directed to KHI: "If you require a more narrow wire and deeper cup then you may be interested in our sister brand, Katherine Hamilton Intimates. For this collection we have developed our own bespoke underwires that are more narrow with deeper cups to offer forward projection and underarm comfort."

Like BG, this brand would do all its manufacturing in the UK, but I am really hoping to have found another option on the list of narrow-and-deep that doesn't require translating Polish :)

  • Ooo, I hope the description holds up in reality for the Katherine Hamilton Intimates bra, because that sounds great!

  • What was your impression of SoL? Their website says "We have sizes from 32A to 44H" so I guess I had written them off as a 30DD-ish person since I'd have to sister-size into a 32 which I don't really like doing, and I worry places that don't even carry 30-bands or cups above H will look at me like I'm crazy when I mention 28 or 30 bands.
