Freya 3HC

lcl0706 or anyone else, what are your thoughts on how Freya's vertical-seam halfcups compare to their polish counterparts made by Ewa Michalak and Comexim ?

  • Having tried a Freya Patsy half cup, Comexim's 3HC, Anna Pardal's Doyenne half cup, and an Ewa Michalak CH, I find Freya half cups to be the widest and shallowest. They can also be a bit tall for my short roots.

All three of the Polish half cups are much narrower than Patsy. AP's Doyenne is a bit tall, so it's pretty full-coverage on me. It also felt the least projected of the 3 Polish half cups. Comexim 3HC is cut at a height that's more flattering for my short roots, and has more room near the gore than AP's Doyenne. Ewa's CH feels like the most projected of the lot, and between that and how open it is it does run large enough that I size down 1-2 cups. CH has rather short cups from what I hear, the current CH Cherry being an exception. It doesn't feel as stable to me, BUT that could be because mine runs large in the band.

I do feel like Comexim 3HC is my sweet spot: it offers short cups, a bit of room at the gore, lots of immediate projection, and wires that are only a finger wider than my roots. I feel stable, but not squished.

  • I tried Freya Marina, 32D altered to 30DD, (shallow, high cut cup, rather big, shape is rather flat) which is the one with the widest wires. Aditionally it is the only one whose band stretched out.
Comexim 2HC, 65E, are shallow, high cut and rather open on top (the only one in the list that really does not fit).
Comexim 3HC, 65E, have more projection, lower cut, not very open on top, shape is moderate to the center. Not as much wow as any EM but good and really comry to wear because of the incredibly soft wires. Strangely in the same model the band of 3HC feels looser for me than 2HC.
EM HP, 65D, is projected, open and really, really low cut (lowest in the list). Shape is projected but not centered. I miss this cut.
EM CH, 65D, is most projected, really open and quite low cut. Shape is really centered. The wirest feel narrowest, even if they measure the same as other EM Halfcups.
EM CHP, 65D, is really a mixture of CH and HP, lower cut than CH but higher then HP, projected and quite centered. My Grosky i roze is more closed on top than the others, I cannot compare other models yet.
