Deodorant stains

Do you guys find that certain kinds of deodorant stain worse than others? I switched to my cheap stick for a few days recently and suddenly my Feathers and Marcie have grey stains !! :( Hope they wash out.. It's a chalky deodorant, but I've used sticks that don't do this so badly. The other one I'm using is a gel and it never stains.

  • Deodorants are really tricky and it's hard to predict which ones will stain. I guess this is not a major problem for a lot of people, but for me it has been. I didn't care so much when I wore ill-fitting bras, but since getting bras that I actually like, I was devastated to find that my deodorant was adhering to my bras and wouldn't come out. The problem was compounded by the fact that it took me years to find a deodorant that worked for me in all climates (I travel a lot) and didn't have too offensive a smell because I'm super sensitive to fragrances.

When my trusty Degree stick began leaving white gunk on my new bras, I dealt with it in preference to finding a new deodorant. I could get some of it out with a little scrubbing when hand washing, but in a few weeks they were indelibly chalked. I have short roots so my bras are always invading my armpits. I find that a soft toothbrush helps to scrub away the residue when hand-washing with a delicate detergent.

I never liked the feeling of gel or roll-on deodorants, but a lot of the advice online says that's the way to go. I haven't found a stick that won't leave marks. The best solution I have found is to use a lightly scented spray deodorant. A lot of the drugstore brands really have a strong smell and I didn't want that attached to my bras either, so it took many weeks of trial and error. It's not as effective a deodorant as my old Degree solid, but my bras are happier.

  • I use a vodka and essential oil spray. It may burn a bit, but it kills bacteria and viruses on contact. It is also my hand disinfectant. I carry it in my purse.
