need to find bras that have banded/wide/tight closed on top bras (breast tissue does not fill in upper part, bra gaps badly)

I BELIEVE (but am not sure) that I have narrow roots, am very flat on top/somewhat FOB, very wide-set, very "deflated" or "pendulous," lack inner fullness, have very soft tissue, and people on abrathatfits are split on whether I am tall or short rooted. Cleos in 36FF seem to fit well in term of cup/band size, as do most Lilyette minimizers (Plunge into Comfort, Dream Back Smoothing) in 34/36 DDD no idea). So far in my "bra adventures" the much reviled Jude fit very well, the Neve looked horrible, and both the Kali and Heidi Klum Sofia pretty much epitomize the problem that I'm talking about.

I just can't find a half-cup/demi/balconette that I can fill on top. They are all too "open on top," I guess. The girls on abrathatfits suggested the Curvy Kate Bardot or discontinued Madagascar,

Among the bras that are recommended on Bratabase were:

Cleo Jasmine, Tango II, Andorra, Lucy, Minnie, Lily, Neve (again, a no-no), Minnie; Elsa;

Fantasie Melissa Side Support, Susanna Side Support, Jana Side Support, Ivana;

Ewa 5 Teczowe Kfiaty and Hp Rokoko;

Comexim Veronique, Geisha Plunge;

Parfait Charlotte Padded (looks scarily huge!);

Masquerade Rosa;

Elomi Etta Bandless;

Tutti Rouge Nichole;

Miss Mandalay Balconette; and

Freya molded bras like the Deco Molded Plunge, Deco Spotlight, Patsy Padded, and the Lauren.

Now, I've looked at some of these and I'm not sure if they have adequate "closure" on top. Does Bratabase take that need into account, and if so, what measurements determine that?

I'm loathe to try molded cups because even though I struck gold with the Jude, I know from trying them on that I have the same problem with gapping on top, or sizing that just looks too large.

And above all, am looking for something AFFORDABLE! I am on a fixed (think poverty level) income and need to be very, very frugal. I love that I can wear the Jude under low-cut stuff for the summer, and it was great to find them on Amazon for about $7 a pop, but that sort of thing doesn't come around every day. And of course, I need to be able to return them.

So any suggestions for bras with wide, tight banding on top. Don't worry about the cost necessarily: I can always try to track them on Amazon, but if you know of cheaper brands that work well, that would be wonderful.

Thank you so much. My measurements should be available for those who would like to take a peek.

  • The bratabase recommendations are a mystery to me, but I dont think they take FOT/FOB or similar shape issues in to consideration. In my size range, I get 2 recommendations, 1 of which I own already.

    Often a good way to start here is with a fit request. Unfortunately you are most likely to get a suggestion like Ewa Michalak half-cups . . . obviously not the cheapest option unless you can find them used

  • I'm a different size, but similar boobs. I used to wear lilyette minimizers, too. I can weigh in a little on Freya. If you can wear Jude without spilling out over the gore, you might have luck with a Freya balcony. Basically an unlined plunge. There are a lot of these around and some of the cheaper finds. The classic Deco plunge is FoT, Spotlight more friendly to even- FoB, but not perfect for short roots. Since you're unsure on root height, you are probably in for more trial and error. As for half cups, my shape recently changed to more fob and Patsy is now too open on top. Lauren should be more closed so I'd recommend a Lauren cut.
