Bra for loss of volume on top /FOB narrrow shoulders

I have over the last few years found it harder and harder to find bras that fit me properly and as a result am feeling less and less confident about my breasts.I feel like there is something wrong with my boobs that I struggle so much to get a bra to fit. I have a loss of volume on the top due to my age(I am 50) weight loss, about a stone, and I guess breastfeeding in my 30s. I believe a balconnette style is better for this but I have trouble with straps slipping off my shoulders, so although I would not consider myself a petite lady , i am 170cm tall, and weigh 10stone . I guess I have narrow shoulders. I am sure I am not the only one! I am usually in a size 34f to 34g. any help appreciated!

  • Do a fitting thread with your best-fitting bra (even if the fit isn't that great) as there are so many variables, it's hard to give advice without seeing some of the fit problems.
I also have a narrow build despite not being super tiny overall, and virtually every single UK brand bra is too wide-set in the straps for me now that they've all decided the straps need to be miles apart to accommodate sexy necklines! You may be experiencing undue gapping in the upper cup just because you are forced to angle the straps in for them to stay on. This "bunches" the cups and opens up more volume than they were ever intended to have.
I presume you are in the UK since you mention weight in stone and have an M&S bra in your bra list. I would suggest trying on the Fantasie Jacqueline, not the new one but the one that's been out for a year or more... it has narrow set straps and I find it a very easy fit. You are well within the size range. Their new Selina looks like it's designed on the exact same frame if you don't mind the hot pink color ;-)

  • I have reduced fullness up top. Some balconettes have racerbacks. La Senza The Show Off Balconettes with padding has them but they may only be in Canada? I heard a hack was to add a paperclip to the back of the straps and form your own racerback. Not sure if that works. Just to encourage you that there is nothing wrong with you. I wish they would make more bra styles for people like us!
