Will I ever find a bra that fits?

Having been measured as a 28DD in Debenhams and Boux Avenue, I am beginning to think they are wrong. I think the fitters have overestimated my size. I personally, think I should go down 2-3 cup sizes to a 28B/C. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have yet to find the 'PERFECT' bra,(although this may be because of my weird, wonky body). I don't really know much about my shape, it's very confusing to define them. I definitely think I have undiagnosed severe pectus excavatum. Again, correct me if you dont think so.

Every bra gore, every one I've tried juts out noticeably, most bras gape at the top, balconnettes usually gape worst, every bra I've tried digs at my armpit where the strap connects to the cup, most bra straps fall down.

Oh and to top it all off, I have a 25 in ribcage and a limited budget.

So please, my bra saviours, could you possibly try your utmost to find the 'Hallelujah it fits! bra'. I suspect that will never happen, you'll just tell me I'll just have to get to terms that I'll never have the perfect bra and I'll just have to persevere with badly fitting bras because I'll never find the perfect fit.

I have added a link to my pictures you can peruse my awful bras and tell me what's wrong.

  • The concept of underwire bras relies on the wire's ability to sit perfectly flat on your ribcage in contact with your body, as this anchors the whole bra in place and provides support for the cups. If your breastbone does not sit flush with the rest of the ribcage and is in a hollow, this means the wires cannot sit flat, the bra isn't securely anchored and there is breast tissue sitting unsupported at the center. Wearing a cup that is FAR too tiny for your breast mass (28B/C) is not going to solve this problem in any way. If the depth of the hollow at your sternum is such that there is no way to bend or adjust the wires (other people with PE may be able to advise) your strategy should be instead to find other bra design features that compensate for this lack of wire support at the center and provide support a different way. Options to consider may include longlines or nonwired bras with a good width underbust band; this would ensure that the bra is anchored in place properly and that there is something beneath the inner portion of the breasts so they feel supported.
I know at least one person has blogged or written reviews on here about getting a good fit with PE, have you been able to find that?

  • I've had a look at Blur 's advice for PE. I find it imteresting that she says that women with PE often underestimate their size. I don't know where I was getting at with 28B/C, M&S(the big name bra fitter in the UK,renowned for being terrible) fitted me into a 28B on the same day of my 28DD fitting and it was horrendous. I was quadding everywhere. I was getting frustrated at my lack of finding well fitting bras. Another point, I look at all the photos of 28DD wearers here and I look much bigger. Hmm, how's that?
