Is bra cupth depth related to my horizontal/vertical breast diameter?

My first post! This may have been asked before, but I couldn't find anything....

Does the depth of the cup (measurement) relate directly to the bust measurement I get either leaning over at 90 degrees or the vertical/horizontal measurement? I have about a 39-40 (changes over the month) leaning bust measurement with a 29.5 snug measurement, and about a 9.5" horizontal/vertical measurement.

Does this mean that I can watch for bras with cup depth of around 9.5?

Thanks for any feedback!

  • Sadly, it is not that simple. Best thing to do is look at your current bras cup depth measurement and go from there.

The correlation between breast perimeter and cup depth varies depending on your breast tissue and shape.

When a bra holds your breast it doesn't hold it in the same shape than it is when you measure the horizontal perimeter, it usually distributes the tissue a bit to the sides and top of the boob so it is likely that the necessary cup depth for you is less than 9.5".

  • Jj Thnaks for your response! Too bad it's not that simple! Unfortunately, I'm new to this, so my current bras are very ill fitted, and I'm not sure I can rely on them for sizing (I have either 34Cs or one 32D, but my estimated size is 30FF). I'll try again when my orders arrive!
