"Boob or Bust" facebook group

Ok, I've been sitting on making this post for a while but not wanting to start drama, but something finally pushed me over the edge today. Are any of you guys in this group? What do you think of it? The thing I appreciate about here/ABTF is that personal comfort is always stressed over ~troo~ sizing. It's not personal, it's bra fitting. If someone's more comfortable in their +4 size than not, that's no skin off my nose. But this group seems very hive mind-y, and if you're not in the size given by their calculator you're WRONG. Not to mention that their calculator is overzealous, it gives me a 30G--which I've worn before and in most brands it was painfully tight and the cups were too large, my best fitting size is usually a 32F. I really think it is wrong to push women into wearing sizes that are painful in the name of "true fitting." They also do things like share this graphic that says full cups are good for FOT boobs (ugh) and tell people to go down 2 cup sizes when they go up a band, which doesn't make any sense. Then today, in their selling group, someone posted a 34B bra and the admin told them you are NOT ALLOWED to sell this size as it "doesn't reflect true sizing." Imagine if you are a 34B (I'm sure there's some cis women who are, and a lot of trans women are these kind of sizes) and you see someone saying your size is not real! Sorry for my rant, I'm mad.

  • I can't believe that they said that a 34B is not a true size. That's disgusting. Their advice sounds awful.

  • Here Here!

The "right" size is the one you feel most comfortable in. I think there is definitely a trend for too big bands and too small cup size out there, but it is not the solution of everyone's problems!

I am all for starting with measurements and making the suggestion that people try the bra calculator size, just to see if it might be more supportive. But, bra-size-fundamentalism is just as bad as every other form of fundamentalism.

The great thing about this site is that while we all start with the numbers, it is more about shape, differing contructions, preferences, and trying to make the best fit possible given limited resources and accessibility.
