Brastop order and Kris Line, Gorsenia disappointment

I finally got my long awaited Brastop order a few days ago. It arrived 12 days after I put in the order, which wasn't terrible shipping from the UK to Western NY. Unfortunately, things haven't gone too well otherwise. First, when it arrived my package was litterally balled up and smushed, plus the pink plastic mailer containing over $125 of rather delicate merchandise had a large rip down the side through which I could see glimpses of colorful silky stuff (i.e. there were no other layers of plastic or anything protecting the bras except 2 sheets of tissue paper that were also torn in the same spots as the package). So I wasn't super impressed to start with, but only one of the bras I ordered was padded and it is "semi soft", so though I wasn't pleased with the smushed up shape of the padded cups - they weren't irreparably damaged by being smushed flat and then into a ball for the duration of shipping. Also, luckily, there wasn't any obvious damage done by whatever sharp object sliced the plastic mailer and tissue paper. However, during my careful inspection I noticed quite a few unrelated incidents of minor damage - lots of loose threads, an ink spot, a frayed corner of one of the Kris Line bras cups, a hook almost completely pulled out of the band, and a sort of dingy coloration to the Kris Line Shine bra, which was white. The tags were old and hard to read on some of the bras too. All of these things are forgiveable. The prices were good and I understand that other people have probably purchased and returned these same garments a few times, and the bra business is not an easy one. However, the smushed up, barely wrapped method of shipping couldn't have been great for them during the multiple trips to and fro either.

Pictures of package and damage (and bras that become tents when hooked and set down....that drives me nuts! I should write a manifesto titled "my ribcage is not a triangle") http://imgur.com/a/EHrK1

If the bras had fit perfectly this wouldn't have annoyed me so much, but, alas - they did not. I'm working on putting them all up but incase you just can't stand the suspense! hehe

The 65L - Gorsenia » Eva Soft Underwire Bra (K231) - sold as a UK 30HH - was just too big in every way. I'll post the pics I took even though they're super embarrassing. This bra was a mismatch for me in every way possible - the gore was too tall, too wide and painful, the cups were WAY too tall for me (9.5"), the wires were too wide and too high - I couldn't even really get them into my IMF because the outer wire would dig into my armpit and the too-wide gore sat on breast tissue, plus the straps were too far apart, band was too big and super stretchy, and the cup shaped in such a way as to point my boobs out at a 45 degree angle from my chest - actually this was a problem with all the bras in this order. I realized there are times when I wouldn't even need to try a bra on, when you hook the loosest hooks and bra stands up like a tent - that is not a shape that works for me. Even the shade of beige made my skin look sallow. It just wasn't a match for me, but at least now I know! It really was lovely in some ways, the material so soft and silky and the construction very fine.

The two Curvy Kate's I tried, despite having wires that were narrow, simply didn't fit. Both were crazy tall tents when hooked and set on a flat surface. Lack of scaled wires is just ridiculous, and it's not like I could try a larger band because the 28 didn't even feel tight and a 30 band would have been too loose from the beginning. It was actually kind of funny - the 28J - Curvy Kate » Princess Balcony Bra (CK6001) was probably the most terrible fit I've had yet, it was just comically mismatched to my body, which was a shame since the bright fun pink and ribbon edging made me consider attempting to alter it, but there was just too much I'd need to fix. The straps, when straight up, were barely on my shoulders at all. It's no surprise, since the cups each took up a 3rd of the total band length, the the outer edge of the wire went under my armpit. It actually went PAST the outer edge of my armpit into territory firmly in possession of my back. I don't have breast tissue on the sides of my body, it's all right in front, but it's also pretty soft. A wide shape like that just pushes tissue to the sides and it's not a good look. The Gorsenia did that a lot too. The 28J - Curvy Kate » Daisie Plunge Bra (CK3211) sort of did fit, after I reverse swooped and scooped anyway. It wouldn't have stayed in place long because center fullness always makes its way back to center, but even if it didn't, the low, triangular profile this bra gave me isn't a favorite.

Finally, the 3 Kris Line bras I tried were the closest to fitting. Unfortunately, non of the sizes I got really worked and even if I hadn't had quadding or gapping, these particular styles offered very little support or uplift, and the resulting profile was low and pointy. Even when I adjusted and scooped and swooped and re scooped until the fit was as close as possible, the Kris Line bras felt more like something lacy you're putting on your boobs for decoration that *added* instability and bulk. Maybe this is just me and my particular feelings about how a bra should fit. I also wasn't overwhelmed by the center fullness. I suppose the center depth was better than other bras I've tried, but the gores were often too wide and sitting on some of that tissue, and all 3 bras seams were situated so the apex is directed outward. This is a particular pet peeve of mine I suppose. If it were an all around pushed-in roundess like the Cleo Marcie, that would have been okay. I considered keeping 70HH - Kris Line » Ivy Soft and attempting to narrow the gore, but it honestly didn't seem like it would make enough of a difference to be worthwhile. Plus, the band was very loose, even on the tightest hooks it didn't feel supportive, and the straps didn't adjust short enough. All 3 bras had really beautiful detailing on the straps, but the only partial adjustability made me feel like Goldilocks. The Ivy's were too long and couldn't be made short enough, the 60I - Kris Line » Shine Biustonosz Soft had straps that were not quite long enough and couldn't be made much longer, and the 65HH - Kris Line » Geisha Semi Soft had straps that were just right (although the cups weren't large enough, or were too closed on top - not sure which). Ultimately, none of these bras made me feel comfortable and none really felt like they fit, so, back they go!

If anyone has made it this far in this loonng ramble - how do you suppose I should go about returning? I took pictures of the way the package arrived and all the little damages I mentioned, I definitely don't want to get charged for those things, but don't want to make enemies by sending an email sounding all blame-y. But on the other hand, isn't there something about damaged goods being eligible for free returns?

  • Brastop parcels used to be fairly well packaged - 2 layers of paper and pretty strong plastic envelope. They don't pay extra attention to padded bras - mind you, not many sellers do.
Love4Pollinators can advise you about returns.

  • @erispe Although Brastop says this is not necessary, write "Returns" in large letters on the front and back of the package.

This bag color, @chirality, is significantly paler than Brastop had been using. They may benefit greatly from your experience and feedback regarding the bag's durability.
