Going to California tomorrow for 11 days! Where could I find UK 30G/32FF there?

Or US sizing of course!

Nordstrom?

I'm from the UK and haven't ever been to the USA so honestly I'm not even sure if I've heard of all the shops that might stock bras. Less than $60. The exchange rate is brutal right now.

We're going on a road trip along the coast between San Francisco and San Diego, and will also be visiting Palm Springs area

Also - I know I have some bra give aways listed - you are more than welcome to ask me about them, but I may not be able to respond or post them until 6th December!

  • Why do you even want to try shopping in our brutal bra wasteland..... /lies down to cry

For real though: I don't live in CA, so I'm going to be of limited help, but in your size range your best bet will probably be specialty boutiques. You'll want to google bra and lingerie boutiques in the relevant postal codes, then call the store to make sure they carry your size in store. (Many bra boutiques have websites, but not all, and the sites that do exist probably won't be very thorough.)

Unfortunately, Nordstrom is more known for having unusually competent fitters than for carrying a wide range of bra brands.

Brands you might find at Nordstrom in your size: Panache, Fantasie/Freya, Chantelle, Wacoal, Le Mystere, Parfait, Natori, and according to their website some other brands I've never heard of like Adina. Expect in person selection to be fairly small, especially in 30 bands. :\

At the specialty boutiques, you're more likely to find more expensive imported French brands like Prima Donna, so you may also need to research or ask about price point.

I really deeply do not recommend Victoria's Secret, or any American brand at all. They straight-up do not carry your size or anything close to it. :(

  • Dear friend from the UK ~ we here in the US, if we are interested in a bra that fits, generally buy from your country or anywhere other than the US. The specialty boutiques here may have a few - very few - non-matrix sizes and may have a few cut & sew bras, but like the department stores they will mostly have moulded bras in beige and black in D, DD, and DDD. And they will be very expensive as well. As rainbrasspetals said, there you will find Prima Donna, Empriente, Aubade - French is the US definition of lingerie for the "large" busted woman. I have heard of an LA boutique called Jeanette's, maybe that would be worth a go, although I have not actually been there! Nordstroms is hit & miss since they rotate stock frequently, but the store itself is nice if pricey. Don't even bother with other department stores, or just go and see for yourself - they are a wasteland (except maybe for sports bras). Purely for science, entertainment value and international understanding, however, I recommend a trip to an American mall and the Victoria's Secret shop there (they are generally only in malls). Get the experience of being fitted. See what we are up against as the 'gold standard' for most of American women. Buy a couple pair of thongs, those are cute and cheap :) Love, your US cousin
