Once long ago I , with two friends started a lingerie company. Poirette was intended for the trousseau market. Foundation start up costs were beyond us, and mail order seemed too trashy at that time. We hit on a powerful idea. Decorative hand sewing of bra cups on fairly inexpensive bra and panty sets. Our first two releases were Kingfishers and Ankhs, hand sewn by Filipino ladies in Shantung silk. Sewn into the bra cup one side only they were pretty and original. At the first lingerie show where we had a booth we were inundated with orders, so many that hand sewing was out of the question. We did not order enough in advance and after a couple of years we closed down, forced out by lack of capital, inability to think the whole thing through, and competitors who ripped off the idea. I held to my bras for a long time, but now they are gone. Just an idea !
