Bra/ boob shape "guide" in Daily Mail

I was very optimistic and hopeful when I saw the headline "The guide EVERYONE needs to know when buying bras: Lingerie queen reveals how to boost your assets based on your breast shape".

Well, I was much disappointed with the article. There are different shapes listed but bra recommendations are quite poor imo, Apparently if you have even fullness on top + bottom, you don´t need support and should wear bralettes - really?? Boob size doesn´t count at all? And if there´s a big gap between your boobs you should wear balconette bras because the "wire in the middle conceals the space"? There is no mention that maybe you should look for bras with wide gores,

Also no recommendations on bra brands/ models with for example lower cup projection or shallower cups, no mention about wire width/length etc. Ugh.

  • That article is ridiculous, but does it come as a surprise? Not so much :)
All so-called bra fitting/bra buying guides by mainstream media I've ever encountered have been incomplete at best, full of false/misleading information at worst. After all, they're written by journalists - not brafitters or brafitting-enthusiasts.
The most startling thing about this article is how it tries to use the language of the brafitting community, like "full on top/bottom" and so on. Interesting to see that the industry is kind of listening to us? But when it comes to featuring moulded plunges with gel pads as a solution for nearly every problem - nope, nope, nope. Moulded plunges ARE a fit problem for most people.

Oh, by the way: Bratabase has a total of 20 bras listed for "Caprice"/"By Caprice". Enough said ;D

  • ^ 20 bras in total LOL :D

I should´ve of course known better, not to expect much of the article, but somehow I was hoping, because it is written by someone who owns her own lingerie brand, not a random journalist.

it really is startling that those brafitting community terms are used!
