Quickie comparison between Impimi Nicol and Impimi Nicol Push Up
I got these bras last week and I wanted to do a quick comparison post up as I won't have a chance to do in-depth reviews until after the New Year.
I purchased both the Nicol and Nicol Push Up in 30E/65F. My best fit in bras is typically UK 30E/28F, with my best fits currently the Cleo Mimi (28F), Cleo Marcie (28F), and Panache Olivia (30E). Shape-wise, I'm even, projected, close set, with tall roots and on the narrow end of average root width.
Overall, I found the bras to be excellent value for the money - I got them on sale for 15 euro each - the bra construction was flawless and the fabric that the cups are made out of was very soft and comfortable. The underwires are firm, but no firmer than typical Cleo/Panache wires.
The Nicol and Nicol Push Up are identical (same cup construction and cup/gore/wing height) with two exceptions:
- the Push Up has cookie pockets sewn into the bottom with two included cookies; the regular Nicol has no cookie pockets and no included cookies.
- The Push Up has wires that flare out about 1/4" / 0.5cm wider than the regular Nicol. They follow the same curve, but the Push Up is ever so slightly wider at the top of the underwire on the wing side. Honestly, it did not make a noticeable difference to me during wear.
As for fit, the bands felt true to size (both in nude and black colorways) and they both have suitably narrow wires with lots of immediate projection - actually, too much at the gore for me, as I got bit of gapping in the center in the regular Nicol. In both cuts the cups were a bit higher than I'd like, and in the 65F Nicol I could not fill out the top of the cups. I'd say it's about a half size too large for me. The addition of cookie pockets & pads in the Push Up corrected this issue and I could almost completely fill out the top of the cup. If you are very FoT I would suggest sizing up in the Push Up and ordering your normal size in the Nicol; if you are FoB, keep your regular size in the Push Up and size down in the Nicol.
