Random bra thoughts- the grass isn't always greener

I was super active on Bratabase like 4-5 years ago. During that time, I gained weight while trying to discover my size. So I suppose that's why I was so active. At my largest, I wore a 30JJ, so I was constantly trying to find bras that fit and flattered. I lost some weight 3 years ago and was down to a 30HH. I got pretty comfortable in this size range as finding bras was a lot easier. I wore 32GG decos and 32H masquerade bras. So I became less active on Bratabase. Last year I lost some more weight and went down to a 30H. That was even better! I amassed a collection of 30GG decos and was pretty damn content with that.

So I logged out of Bratabase for a couple of years- (SO sorry to people who tried to buy the bras I left listed :(. I see that that has become a big problem- lots of inactive user listings).

Well, this year, I am down to a 28H. When I first discovered I could get away with wearing 30G's sometimes (freya deco, wonderbra strapless, freya longlines with a manageable amount of quadboob- the band is too loose, but doesn't ride up quite as much in a longline), I got pretty excited, but then I realized that now I really need to wear 28 bands in most bras (27.5" ribcage, 27" btt). I never thought it would be harder to find bras in a smaller cup size than I used to be. When I weighed more, I had more fat (and thus, squish) on my ribcage, so I could wear a 28-32 bands and it didn't matter too much. Now though, anything tighter than 28" stretched hurts, and anything looser than 29" stretched gets uncomfortable, anything looser than 30" stretched is unwearable. These tighter constraints (no pun intended), makes finding bras more difficult. I'm forcing myself to be picky as difficult as that is. Because I've realized that I will not wear a bra with a band too loose.

Right now, my FAVORITE bra is the Cleo Mimi. I was really into my Cleo Breeze longlines (30GG) for a couple months, but then I realized that the longline was actually making it hard for me to breathe. So I decided the try out the Cleo Mimi. I went for a 30GG, the band was huge, so I exchanged for a 28H. I still have to wear the 28H on the tightest hook, but I adore the shape I get from that bra. I also have a 28GG Mimi because of the cakes on a plate cleavage (worth the orange in a glass when I want that cleavage).

Since I love the Mimi so much, but need a tighter band, I'm trying out Comexim. I have a Comexim 3 part halfcup bikini in 65J that is too small in the cup, loose in the band, but it's SO comfy that I will probably keep it. I just bought a 30H Anna Pardal for Comexim half cup from a Bratabase user. I have high hopes that this will be my ideal bra. We will see! :)

After I figure out my Comexim size in the halfcups, I might try out a plunge. I do sometimes miss the Polish plunge cleavage that I have not had in 3.5 years.

I also wonder if I can get Curvy Kate to work on me now, it looks like they have become a bit narrower and tighter in the band? The gores never lay flat in the past (When I was in the 30HH-30JJ range), but I've noticed that my boobs have less center fullness (Ok, this is probably obvious since I've shrunk 4 cups), so gores tend to lay flat more often than they used to (The exception is when bras are way too small and shallow for me- 30G Parfait Fiona, 28GG Freya Patsy halfcup).

I'm also eyeing the Parfait Charlotte. I remember that when they expanded the size range on that a few years ago, I was worried I'd get a shape I didn't like. (I like ROUND, the only time I will compromise that is with a polish plunge). I saw one Bratabase review that said it was as comfy as the Panache Sport- um, yes please! The Panache sport is my comfy bra, the bra I put on with my lounge clothes as soon as I get home every day. Also- a FOUR hook band!? I'm just not sure which size to try with the Charlotte (30H for cleavage, 30HH for lounging? haha).
I'm still getting to know my new boobs.

  • I have similar issues with bands. Ugh. Hope the Lady Grey fits fantastically!

  • Me too! I am pretty confident that it will fit because the measurements closely match my cleo mimis, but we will see! Thank you for shipping it so quickly! :D
