I'm new to this site and am ashamed to admit I'd only recently realized that I was wearing the wrong size bra. I can't believe how long I went without knowing how bras are supposed to fit. I was buying 38D (and a couple of 38C) bras. Occassionally I would try 40C/D bras because I thought my issue was band size. Turns out I'm a 36F/G (36:7 per this site). Based on what I've learned about bra fitting, not one of the bras I owned before this fit me properly, not one.
I've now had two bra fittings and have been to three specialty stores and now have four new bras. At my first bra fitting I was told I was a 38E/F and bought a Chantelle bra in 38F and a Fantasie bra in 38E. At the second store they thought I should have a 34 or 36 band and I ended up buying a Empreinte bra in 36F (it was half price). I just bought a Wacoal bra in 36G. I'm still having a hard time figuring out what to look for in a bra. I'm not used to the tighter band size, and am still getting used to knowing how a well fitting bra should feel. Unfortunately the first two bras I bought are a little loose in the band and I wish I'd insisted on trying some 36 bras. I'd take my own measurements before I went in, so knew that I was closer to a 36 than a 38. Lesson learned, not all bra fitters are created equal. I've read tips on how to assess band and cup size for fit, but any tips on how a well fitting bra should feel on? I find the 36 a little more constricting, but not restrictive but the overall fit just seems better. Also, I can't believe how much better supported I feel in my new bras.

there are good fitters and bad fitters. try to find someone who is "certified" like at a Nordstroms, Victoria Secret has fitters, but they are not quality and will sister size you to fit their bras on hand.
i was wearing a 36B before getting properly fitted at a 32D. Most bra calculators that do the plus 4 inches but me in a 38A! which is outrageous. lately i've lost weight and am fitting into 30 bands now.
Sounds like your doing well on your journey so far, it can get frustrating at times, but it's worth it to get a great fit.
First off Welcome!!!! I had started my bra adventure shortly before finding Bratabase. I'd been wearing a 34A for EVER!!! Find a site that said "4-5in adding doesn't work" so ended up with some 32B-C bra that fit much better. The found Bratabase and went from 32C-30D as the band fit better. Then thanks to tissue being in the right places and not just where ever I started gaining more tissue mass. For me this was HUGE as I'd been very small my whole life. Now (I think I'm at 4 year on my braventure) I'm somewhere around 30F-FF. And I'm still trying to find what works best for me. My boobs like to change once I've found my "perfect fit". I've come to realize it's a never ending journey for me but so happy I have this site to reply on when I just want to cry because my bra isn't fitting right. LOL
