Plunge or Super Low Gore for 42DDD?

Is anyone aware of a plunge for sizes around 42DDD that are, you know, actually a plunge and not a mass of fabric with a 2ft tall gore? *sigh* I have tried the following bras:

Panache Andorra Full Cup: the underwires poke me in the sides and the center gore digs into my breasts. The lace is relatively comfortable.

Curvy Kate Princess Balcony Bra: Not my best fitting bra and the fabric drives me batty because it's so scratchy. I think the cups are too narrow for me.

Elomi Bijou Banded Molded Bra: The cups show above the collar of my shirts and they dig into my armpits. I also don't really fill the top of the cup all the way.

Wacoal Ultimate Side Smoother... T Shirt Bra: When I first put it on, it's comfortable, but the cups show above shirts and the gore digs in and the top corner of the cup cuts into my armpit. Any movement forward results in the molded cup folding/gaping and pushing my shirt away. By midday, I'm tugging at it so much I'd rather just be at the office braless.

Lilyette Plunge into Comfort Keyhole Minimizer: The fabric is very comfortable, but the gore is way too tall (at least 3 in I would guess, haven't measured it yet) and the cups come up so high that there is no way this qualifies as a plunge. Also, first bra I've tried in my size that I actually looked down and thought I needed to go up a cup size. (the gore doesn't tack).

I know all of the above aren't plunge, I'm just trying to find a basic bra that is comfortable and versatile for all my shirt styles (I wear a lot of v and scoop necks because I have broad shoulders and it breaks them up) and a gore that doesn't dig into my sternum. My breasts start nearly touching in the center and then extend under my arms. I honestly think I would qualify for "shallow", despite hearing a lot of skepticism that large sizes can be shallow. I can't do bands that extend below because my rolls cause them to just roll up.

Any help would be much appreciated!

  • I have the same problem with the Andorra, but Panache Ava almost works for me. It's a bit wide, so the wires sometimes bug me, but it sounds like that might be what you need.

I wonder, though, if Gossard might have something for you. I've tried on a bunch of their bras (38 or 40 band DD-E) and they tend to have nice, low gores that have never tried to kill me and relatively low cups so I don't have to wear a turtleneck (my boobs sit more or less directly under my chin). And they usually have fairly soft wires. I would buy all of them, but the straps are set too wide for me and they all seemed pretty shallow to me. Those could be plusses for you.

  • Thank you for the suggestion dishevelled_diva! I'll take a look at Gossard. Maybe it will be my unicorn. :)
