The Bikini search saga continues.... insight would be appreciated

First of all, Olá! (That's "hello" in Portuguese) I'm only a couple of months bratabase-old, and this will be my first adventure (..posted, at least XD).

So, I've been trying desperately to find a good bikini. Brands like Curvy Kate and Panache are very expensive here in Portugal, and so I have resorted to ebay. Obviously, buying bras online without having much fitting experience on the brand is very risky....

Today I will write about my third, and probably not last, wrong choice of bikini size:
The Curvy Kate Padded Coral Reef in 30E.

I was fitted in Panache as a 28E, and due to reviews I read about Curvy Kate running smaller, I tried the 30E ... and it's big, both in the band and in the cup. Therefore, if I were to try another size, 28E would be it. However, there are some problems that might be style and not size related...and this is where I would like your help :)

List of problems, size related:
- Band too loose
- Cup gapping on top
- Cup gapping on sides

Other problems, size or style related?
- Pointy shape
- Unfilled cup on bottom, but no space, it's close to the ribcage
- When layed down, back on the floor (position I most definitly will have on the beach), massive unfilled cups problem, and weird shape of the cup along the cup lighning

---About the pointy shape
It's a matter of opinion, and personaly, I like a rounder shape better, and this is too pointy for me. Now, I read that curvy kate's usually give that shape when the size isn't the correct, and they suggest going UP a cup size. Considering my current fit, I don't think going up would help at all. Would going down a cup fix the pointy look, however? Or is the pointy shape due to the 3-part style?
Also, is it possible, for a 3-part cup like this one, not to look unfilled and pointy when we are laying on our back? Because that's a big issue for a bikini!

---Would 28E be the right size though?
Although there is gapping on the sides, the underwire length and width is the right one. So, if I were to try a 28E, since the cup is smaller, it would probably be narrower?

About the cup size, since it is a volume parameter relative to the band, it ends up being a projection parameter, correct? In that case, the 28E would have the same projection as a 30E, and that would be a problem for me, since this one has too much projection.

Thank you for reading, and I will appreciate any help you can provide :)

  • I am so sorry you are having such fit issues. I can totally relate as finding a bra or bra sized bikini in my size at a local store is not an option and I have found plenty of inconsistencies with online shopping........
For me, both Curvy Kate and Panache have been a hit and miss, but Panache has always run large in the cup by 1 or more cups. I am a 30J/28K in Panache while a 30K in Curvy Kate since they don't make a 28KK. Curvy Kate isn't always the best quality, and cheap on ebay can mean a factory second, or one that is of lower quality.
I'd suggest trying Amazon, with ones that are fulfilled by Amazon that qualify for free returns so if it doesn't fit you can return it without any additional cost to you.
I'd also suggest trying Comexim, you can buy from them directly. I love Comexim personally, and they have excellent customer service. You can email them with fit questions and they can help you with a size.
    Godd luck!

  • Thank you MamaPagan for your recommendations.
Is that 'factory second' thing about curvy kate's bras common? So, when buying sale and clearance bras on their official website, I should expect a lower quality one? And does that happen with other brands too?
I went to see Comexim website and it looks nice. Maybe it will be one of my next adventures.
