ABTF - 1 year later

I love this community. It's been so helpful in so many ways. Thank you all.

A year on and I still have the same 30D - Natori ยป Feathers Contour Plunge (730023) that I probably got a year ago. It's the only bra that truly fits me - I have yet to find another. I have 2 betsy johnson balconette bras but find that I can't wear them all day as my sternum get really irritated. It's awful. So I'm thinking that plunges or similar are the way to go. Glad to have that figured out.

I recently went to Nord Rack to check out some bras as I only have 1 that fits me and money is very tight as I have a lot of medical expenses right now. I tried on a Natori Feathers in 30D and I had major quad boob. However the one that I have fits me. Is the one that I have really stretched out?? Is this normal? I have worn it every day for about a year. & am not realizing that I don't like the shape that it gives me anymore... maybe all of this is related??

I tried on 32C and 30D bras - nothing fit - everything was either too small or not the right shape - eg fill out the bottom of the cup but not the top, or top of cup was too closed for me. I was dumbfounded and tried on 32D and 34C bras and experienced the same thing. Has this happened to you?? I don't know what to do. I measured myself when I got home using the ABTF calculator and got 28D/DD. Which doesn't seem quite right either.... **side note - i tried on a Natori Feathers in 32D and filled out the bottom but not the top of the cup & it was too wide... don't know if that will help...

I like Calvin Klein padded push-up plunge bras - they are generally comfy but I can't seem to find a cup that doesn't cause quadboob. I also haven't found any other bra than Natori Feathers that fits me. I've tried:

Freya Deco Moulded Plunge 28DD - too tall, didn't fill top
Betsey Johnson Stocking Stripe demi 30C - can't remember but it didn't fit :\
Curvy Kate Smoothie balconette 28D - too projected
Cleo Maddie Balconette 28D - fit leaning - but not standing - too big
b.tempt'd by Wacoal Women's Ciao Bella Balconette Bra, Night, 30D - fits when leaning but not when standing - too big
b.tempt'd by Wacoal Women's Ciao Bella Balconette Bra, 30C - way too small - major quad boob
Cleo Women's Juna Balconnet Bra, Nude, 28D - little too small
Cleo Women's Juna Balconnet Bra, Nude, 28E - too big
Betsey Johnson Women's Retro Glamour Demi Bra, Gold Rush, 30D - decent but wanted diff colors
Cleo by Panache Women's Maddie Balconnet Bra,Animal Print,28DD
Betsey Johnson Women's Starlet Lace Balconette Bra, Bellini, 30C
Betsey Johnson Women's Eyelet 3 Demi Bra Bra, 30D - fits ok, but leaves me looking very flat. Wire irritates me when I wear it for a long time.
Betsey Johnson Women's Retro Glamour Demi Bra, Dottie Leopard, 30D - same as above
Calvin Klein Women's Naked Glamour Strapless Push up Bra, Buff, 30D - too closed at top of cup
Freya Women's Marvel Underwire Side Panel Bra, Black, 28DD - i think it fit leaning but not standing - too big
Calvin Klein Women's Perfectly Fit Lightly Lined Memory Touch T-Shirt Bra, Bare, 30D - I think too small
Calvin Klein Women's Seductive Comfort Tailored Customized Lift Demi Bra, Black, 30D - I think this was too small

What have I learned? I'm more FOB, shallow, tall, wide root, close together, more outer fullness on one side and more inner fullness on the other. My right side is bigger than the left, but not by too much.

Does anyone have any advice re: bras w/ same shape as Natori Feathers? Or padded plunge Calvin Klein styles that worked for them?

  • Can I ask why you didn't try a single 30DD? Surely just going up 1 cup size would be the first thing to try, without changing band etc., unless you know your torso has become larger around for any particular reason?

  • You are not alone. I've gotten many bras in the same model same size and had them fit completely different. There is always a margin of error, with bras and every other piece of clothing, and it is frustrating. It really sucks to find a perfect fit only to order more and have them not fit. Sometimes a minor adjustment, such as the straps, can resolve the issues but many times nothing works. I feel your pain. :(

My suggestion is try the sizes in the same brand, style, & model (if possible) to try and get a true size. If possible, try a few in the same model & size as well. Since sizing varies between brands, and also between styles, it makes it harder to pinpoint a good size. I don't have a "single" size that fits, I have a size range. Even within brands, such as Freya, I have 3 different cup sizes that can fit. Really makes it difficult to know what size to order for sure.

Do you have any specialty (bridal or lingerie) shops near you? It would be best (& cheaper) to do a day of window shopping/trying on as many bras as you can, and we all know it's darn near impossible to find 28 and 30 bands in a common store.

If there are no specialty shops, I suggest trying Amazon and going with ones fulfilled directly by Amazon, with free returns. Order several different ones in your general size range in the same model/ style, then adjust accordingly. That way you can return the ones that don't fit, and not have to pay return shipping.

If you have any thift stores near by, it may be possible to find a few really cheap there as well. It's worth checking & you may get lucky.
I've given several large stacks of bras (many new with tags) to Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc over the years, so it's always possible.
