Curvy Kate Size System

Olá!

My bra adventure this month was making a big Curvy Kate order so I could figure out my size, and also to better understand the size system by comparing the same bra in several different sizes!
The conclusions aren't really new, but since it helped me, I want to share it- it might help someone else.

The comparisons were made with the Curvy Kate Smoothie Deluxe Moulded Bra (CK5301), sizes 28DD, 28F, 30DD, 30E and 30F.
(Unfortunately I don't have the 28E, which is actually my size, since they didn't have it in stock)

______Comparing same band sizes: 28DD-28F, 30DD-30E-30F.
- Underwires have the same bottom curvature, but for a bigger cup, the wires are longer. Since the underwire shape is like an U, but with the edges opening to the outside, the longer they get, the further apart they get as well, which results in a wider cup.
- Total band lengths are the same, but since for the bigger one the cup is wider, the wing length is a little bit smaller.
- Since the underwires are longer for the bigger cup, the wing and the center gore are also higher.
- A bigger cup is both deeper and higher.

______Comparing sister sizes: 28F-30E
- The cups are identical, they completely overlap when put one on top of the other. They have the same wire length, cup width and cup depth.
This is actually a result which I was not expecting. I knew the volume of the cup would be the same for sister sizes, but I thought that the depth would change, since I also thought the width would change. I have read and heard references to this 'sizing fact', but apparently this is not the case for Curvy Kate.

So, based on your experience, have you got to the same conclusions? ...Different conclusions?

For all of you that are still struggling to find your size, in a specific brand or style, I really think this 'big order' thing is a very good idea. Instead of wasting money in shipment costs to buy&return the bra, one at the time, we can plan a big order, maybe even reaching the tier of free delivery, and make sure that at least one of the ones we've ordered will fit >:)

Nice 'braing' everyone!

  • In larger sizes grading occurs more gradually as well, which is why CK has some of the narrowest wires on the market at the top of their size range (40K).

I also like to buy a lot of different sizes in the same bra all at once to get the best fit. It's also great for bratabase if we measure because then we can get a better idea of the range of sizes and how they measure.

  • I would like to order a bunch of different bra sizes, but I do not do so because of return shipping costs. If it's Amazon, that is easy, but when I order from overseas I feel like I don't want to take the financial risk should they not fit.
