SO MANY broken wires...

What am I doing wrong? My Ewa Michalak bras are all busting wires. In 3 years, I've had at least 6 wires break. Probably 8. It's usually right under the bust, about 2 inches from the gore. Of note, that's right where I get red marks about 1-1.5 inches below my IM fold when my bra slides down from my breast root (which ALWAYS happens because I have projected, narrow rooted, HEAVY 36JJ breasts). Ewa bras are the best fit I've found so far. But this is starting to get ridiculous. Today it broke while I was walking in the grocery store. Walking. And now the world knows why I don't do high impact exercise. LOL

  • oh wow that's kinda scary! I don't think it's anything you are doing--they may just not be using wires with the ideal strength and flexibility for cups of this size (have to be able to handle the weight and projection that naturally is going to come with a boob of those proportions). I am sure there's someone here who can advise on the wires EM uses and perhaps suggest a replacement. It's usually feasible to take out the old and slide in the new without totally butchering the bra! Longlines and bustier shapes may help too as the portion covering the ribs provides a more secure fit i.e. less movement and less strain on the wires.

The only other factors I can think of are (a) wearing each bra too long past its natural retirement age (wires basically giving up the ghost) or (b) nontacking gores, which allow wayyyyy more movement and therefore more strain and twisting on those wires

  • Oh, What I wouldn't give for a longline bra. Ewa will NOT make them in larger sizes and has said they will NOT work. Or at least I remember reading that she said that somewhere. I've gone so far as to buy longline bras with smaller cups with the (pie in the sky) goal of Frankensteining my own. But I haven't done it yet.

It's happened in several different styles of EM bras, too. PL, S, and SM. And I *think* her wires are pretty substantial. But I could be off on that.

My main problem is that most bras in my cup size are WAAAAAY too wide. EM and Comexim are the only ones I've found that aren't too wide. And they still go about an inch past my breast tissue on the sides. I must be a freak of nature. LOL I'm fat, but my breasts do NOT go under my armpits.

I may try to special order a Comexim longline. It's just hard to plunk down that cash on something that "MIGHT" fit. :-/
