Help me find a bra for mom
Hi! I'm trying to find my mom a supportive bra in a correct size, but since she's in a different size range than me, I need your help!
Her measurements are:
Tight underbust 87cm
BTT underbust 83.5cm
Standing bust 97cm
Leaning 110cm
Lying 99.5cm
According to the A bra that fits calculator, that puts her in a 36DD.
Regarding shape, I would say close set, average width roots, average top/bottom fullness. She prefers a minimised shape, and the most important criterion is comfort.
She hasn't worn or hasn't had good experiences with wired or padded bras (says they're uncomfortable), but I think that has more to do with availability and little information about sizing than with anything else - so either a bra with or without underwire would work. Regarding style (although this is less important), I think something with more coverage and in a "basic" colour is better.
I was thinking about @Fantasie (maybe @Rebecca), but since her size is still in the more easily available matrix sizes, I think there are lots of options out there that I don't know about, since from the start of my my bra journey I've been in search for G+ cups. (Bratabase shows 466 pages of bras for 36DD!). Any suggestions?

I'm actually a bit surprised that ABTF calculator put her at a 36DD. I'm going to go ahead and translate the centimeters to inches. I'm more comfortable using inches and it seems a lot of people on here do as well. Tight ub: 34", BTT ub: 33", standing: 38", leaning: 43", laying: 39". I rounded down as the measurement was always below the half inch point. I would take the average of her bust measurement as there is a 5" increase from standing/leaning. So, a 40" breast. I think she would be best trying a 34 band first, IMO the larger bands tend to be stretchier and more forgiving. She can always go up! 40-34=6=E. I'd suggest a 34E/F. From your description of her shape I have a sneaking suspicion that she is a bit shallow (especially given the huge difference between standing & leaning). I think @Fantasie is a great option (for all women really, the fabrics are just lovely!) It also seems to have some decent projection while still allowing for more error and a variety of shakes and sizes. Might I recommend @Wacoal if she can tolerate a not so narrow cup separation. @Freya seems to be a good all around brand with a stretchy, comfy band and an array of styles. I'd also recommend a look into the polish brands that aren't 100% focused of narrow cups and a lot of projection like @Gorsenia , @Gaia , @Kostar , @Kinga, @KrisLine, and most of all @Avocado. Avocado goes by 4 centimeter increments in their cup sizes and would need further figuring out of her size in centimeters.
Although figuring out which exactly bras would fit her best would work out best if you got her horizontal perimeter!
One of the better bra size calculators I have used ( http://www.sophisticatedpair.com/bra-size-calculator/ ) gives a different size.
This one puts her at a 34G/36FF UK using the 87cm &110cm you provided.... Fantasie is a good one for quality and comfort in that range (It was my go to brand for 10+ years when I was a 32G/30GG), though the gore may be too wide if she is that close set. I am a big fan of Comexim currently, softer wires & close set gore, so that would be another I would suggest. If Zathiya has any in stock, you'd be able to get it before the holiday (if in the US) & they have easy returns if it didn't fit.
@LeProfessor It's generally wiser to suggest brands you have personally tried instead of just giving her a list from here. While yes, some of the brands you listed can have wider wires, I wouldn't recommend them for her mom, as the wires are stiffer/painful (Kinga, KrisLine, Freya) and @JulieCS stated her mom has had issues with wires. Gaia would be a good one to try but we would need more info in her mom's preferences since they have a lot of very different styles before suggesting a specific one. Gorsenia is also a possibility but like Gaia, isn't one I'd suggest based on what information we were given.
