Before this year, I would have said I was pretty round and full on top. I was wrong. I’m definitely full on bottom and maybe a little centre full. When I first started to try and find a well fitting bra, I found that the Cleo Lucy in 36F was my best fit. It no longer fits well so I had to go bra shopping this week and discovered I’m now a 36FF/G. Some part of me was in denial about me needing a larger cup size and I tried to wear my older bras this week, which just confirmed I needed to get more bras in my new size. I even went to a department store and tried on bras, which reinforced that I should never shop for bras there again.

I bought the Panache Jasmine bra in 36G this weekend, but I wanted something with more coverage so went shopping again and tried on a variety of styles. The only style that is working for me is the balconnet, although I tried a variety of options. I was looking for a bra with firmer lace and with a little more coverage and bought two bras that I’m kind of regretting now. I tried on a Lucy bra in 36FF that was on sale but it was still too small. I ended up buying a Panache Tango and a Cleo Marcy because they had firmer top sections than the Jasmine, however these bras really aren’t the best style for me. In both I was somewhere between a 36FF and a 36G and I ended up buying both in a G cup. I was worried that I would end up regretting it if I got the smaller cup size. I do not have enough tissue to fill the very top and both are a little loose at the top (otherwise, they fit). The Tango is the better fit and you can’t tell I don’t fit the top. If I fold the lace down (taking about 1.5 cm off) then the Marcy appears to fit. Unfortunately I’ve worn both bras, so can’t return them.

Should I try alterations on the Marcy and if so, what should I do? Or, should I wait awhile to see if I have any further changes in my cup size?

  • I have found that often in panache bras, a little loose lace on the top makes no difference. It doesnt show through most shirts. and its handy to have somewhere to grow on PMS days and in case there is more weight gain.

I have a new-to-me bra in the mailbox and another one soaking in vinegar (to get rid of the really strong fabric softener smell - eww) Wearing the almost-fit ones, they slide down and get uncomfortable. Slighty-too-big seems to be easier to wear for me

  • Thanks. When I tried both bras in 36FF I had a bit of quad boob and was worried the bras would end up not fitting well. The bras I bought don’t gape, but aren’t snug at the top.
I realized I didn’t have the straps for the Marcie positioned properly and when I moved them out, the lace became more taut. However, I’m not sure the Marcie is the best style for me. I noticed that no matter how I adjust there is a little wrinkle at the bottom of the cup and the gore seems to be pressing into my right boob a bit. I also noticed that the inner side of my breast is flattened as it projects from the gore (instead of being rounded), I think I might need a little more depth in that area.
