Looking for bras for my nearly 11 year old. She has been wearing a little cropped camisole style bra for a year, mostly for modesty. However it seems every day she is looking a little more developed, so now I have to start looking for something more supportive in her size.
Girls bras are sized SO STUPIDLY. They're tiny, but still labeled as 30, 32,34 even though they should be more like 26, 28 etc. Makes it impossible to really guestimate a size.
When I was that age they we're labeled 26, 28 etc.

Also, why are they SO PADDED?! And have such thick underwire?! There is no middle ground on supportive bras. They're either just like a little camisole, or full on super padded and stiffly wired.

I'm looking at the Royce "my first bra" or the tween bee bras...alas they are not in the store near me.

I'll be taking her in the next few weeks because she's developing so fast now. Not sure what to expect with that sudden quick development since I developed slowly from needing a bra in 4th grade through to highschool.

  • Where are you located? Target has some lovely bralettes. My daughter is really broad so she started out in a 32 band though.

  • I second cupandahalf. Target has great bralettes for kids. I remember by first bra was a 30 but was still a little bit loose. :/
