What a Mess...

My bra wardrobe is a (figurative) tangle of unworn, new-with-tags bras that are all in the wrong cup size because I was misled to believe my favorite, best fitting bra at the time (my Curvy Couture 32H Tulip Lace Push-up in Cabernet) is a 32:8 by both HerRoom and Bare Necessities. I received all the shipments, tried everything on, and nothing fit; I was so confused and thought it was because everything was in the wrong style for me as I've still yet to figure out my breast shape. Then I found Bratabase and it turns out a 32H Curvy Couture is a 32:9, and that Curvy Couture possibly has two cup labelling systems - HR and BN both referenced the newer labelling system, but my reference bra was under the old system. I've been putting off measuring, photographing, and listing everything because it's such a daunting and time-consuming task.

All the new bras are out of the question, but now I've even outsized all my old bras. I don't have the funds to shop for new bras to test try so I'm trying to prolong the use of each bra I have for as long as possible. I'm currently narrowing cups to minimize quad boob, and I'll need to find time to sew some bands tighter; narrowing the wires also helped because I believe I have narrow roots in the first place, and as a bonus the wire narrowing also shortened the band length. I've also outgrown the range of my favorite bra as I was already at the largest cup on the smallest band available - I'm so sad...

Last on my mind for now, I've finally come to realize that I have "letterophobia" or body dysmorphia as well as overall confusion of my bra size because Bratabase is giving me reference sizes of 34:7 to 34:11. I thus had to turn to the "most accurate" bra size calculator, SizemApp, as suggested by Bustyresources Wiki, and that gave me 34H (UK) by measurements, or 34:11, but bras in that size are so expensive and I don't have available funds in the first place.

TL;DR -- I hope all your bra adventures are going a little more smoothly than mine is.

😭✌️♥️

  • consider selling some of the non-fitting bras, here or on ebay, and also look to buy some here or on ebay. buying older used bras is a good way to cheaply figure out what fits, but unworn bras can sell for more than a well-worn one

  • You can return bras to both retailers if you aren't past the 30 day mark. I tend to order bras full price with a cc, return them after I determine fit, then order from British retailers on eBay which are much cheaper. I also do find sales sometimes in my sizes ~40:14. I look once a week or so on various retailers as well as Amazon. Good luck!
