Rib cage flares

I think that I might have one (or two) but I'm not sure if I am just feeling and seeing natural contours of my rib cage. What is the best way to determine whether or not I have any rib cage flaring? Should I see a doctor? Would a picture with a hand bra showing the side profile be sufficient for someone who knows more about them to identify and/or confirm work? I'm unable to post the pics I have to ABTF because it violates the nudity rule even though my breasts are covered no less than if I was doing a bra fit. Thanks!

  • it depends on what you define "rib cage flare".
i have an "asian" rib cage flare, as in, i'm wider than i am deep, like a flattened barrel.
some ppl's torsos are "barrel" shapped.
also, i have an extreme waist curve, so that could be called a "rib flare", i can never wear a longline bra, i prefer "bandless" bras.
then you could have a front chest rib cage flare that makes you look like u have a cereal bowl dent on your chest or the opposite of that as well.
i hope that makes sense, i suck and describing things.
some bras are made for asian rib cage flare, like Wacoal.
some bras are made for "barrel" shaped ribs like american or uk bras typically.

    or

are you talking about this: https://daveleyland.com/2016/03/16/taming-of-the-rib-flare/

...cus i don't have one of those, i have a high tummy, another reason i can't wear longline bras.

are u experiencing pain in your ribs? if so then yes, see ur doc. i get infections in my cartilage between my ribs often. and that is painful.

  • I think that it's a flat rib cage instead of barrel from what I can tell, but when I run my hands down my side(s), I feel it dipping in and curving out. I feel it curving out below the band and within the band/upper part of the band. If you look at the side profile, you can see it going in and out slightly. In front, I've always felt like my ribs protrude or stick out more than they should, but perhaps it is actually normal.
