Today I've had my first truly successful Bra Day! I got not one, but TWO bras that fit! Their sizes do nothing to help explain quirky fitting issues...but now that I've learned how different brands, and styles within brands, can be, I've been trying to find bras that suit my shape, not my size. In my search for good side support, I had ordered an Orlinas bra. Their sizing is quite limited, so I ordered a 34D. The more I thought about it, the more I realized the whole reason for finding my "true" sizing was so I didn't buy bras that were something I could "deal with" ever again. So I cancelled the Orlinas order and hunted around for bras that advertised good side support.

I found one at Soma, a brand which I had always disregarded because, unknowingly I thought they'd never have "my size". The bra is called "Sensuous Sides Full Coverage Lace Bra" ( Style: 570049746). According to Soma's methods of measurements that I read online, I measured 32D, so I figured, what the heck, it can't hurt to try. At least it's a 32 band, and, at most, Soma acknowledges the existence of a 27" under-band measurement. The bra is absolutely beautiful - I got it in a gorgeous coral shade (which I think is no longer available). It's full-coverage, but not the quintessential Nana's "cross-your-heart" tent style, at all. The cups are quite shallow, but the underwires actually fit all around my breasts. The inner gore doesn't sit quite the same way as my other bras, but I don't think it's supposed to. I've noticed a lot of tall sided bras allow for movement in the center gores. 32D fits nearly like a glove. I wouldn't mind a 30 band (I use the furthest hooks on the 32 band), but the 32 band is not sliding around at all on my back, and I've been moving a lot today. The cups stay snug...no pouring out the front when I lean over. I LOVE the side support. It is EXCELLENT. I am so sick of fat bulges sticking out of my bras (even Fantasie side support bras), I can't believe I found a bra that actually holds in the blobs. I'm not knowledgeable about sizing, but I think this bra is geared toward "shallow" upper breasts; possibly shallow upper breasts are the ones that slide into armpits?

Anyways - Just wanted to share my excitement. Plus, I hope the info. can be useful to some of you.

The other bra that fits very well is the Cleo Juna. I tried it on when it arrived and it was night-vs.-day compared to the fit of the Cleo Alexa. I got the Juna in 28DD, and I'm thinking that with this style bra (as opposed to the Porcelain, which is too small in 28DD), I'll stick with the DD cups. The Juna is a bright strawberry color. The cups are, in my opinion, "demi" style, but fortunately I get quadraboob only if I move at certain angles. When I'm in any normal position the girls stay in the cups. I haven't worn this for any amount of time yet, but I can tell it's going to be a winner. Like the Tango II Balconnet, it looks surprisingly tiny...I thought "How could I ever get this on?", but I did, and it fit. It's a nice, light bra for hot weather. I especially like that I didn't get any "orange in a glass" with the Juna, like I get in my Tango II, (more and more all the time it seems).

  • What do you mean by the gore not sitting the same as the others? A gore is supposed to lie flat against your chest wall. Period. Don't let anyone tell you it's "supposed" to fit differently. The reason has to do with engineering: it provides support when it touches.

  • This absolutely does not lay flat against my chest wall
    :-(

Soma fitters say this "bridge" type of center gore is made to pull breasts forward and up, rather than push them outward and away from each other, or dig into breast tissue. In my case, that is exactly what they seem to do. I have noticeable difference in my cleavage with this bra than I have with, say, my Juna.

If that's not the case, then Soma's own models are in some pretty bad shape fit-wise! http://www.soma.com/store/browse/product.jsp?maxRec=21&pageId=1&viewAll=&productId=1570049746&prd=Sensuous+Sides+Full+Coverage+Lace+Bra&subCatId=&color=6563&fromSearch=true&inSeam=&posId=7&catId=&cat=&onSale=&colorFamily=&maxPg=2&size= (Eeek)

Usually if the center gore doesn't touch (like in non-wire bras) my boobs get mushed everywhere but where they're supposed to be, but that's not the case at all with this bra. This bra is the most overall structured bra I've ever seen in my life. I definitely get great support. Today this bra survived the "Gardening for hours in 106 degrees" test, and it's still doing its job. Hopefully the center gore won't cause future problems...
