So I did a body check up yesterday...

...you know, where they measure your fat, bone density and the shizz using a spanking high-tech machine.

Turns out my body fat is at a 'bad' level. 29% (you're supposed to be 19%). I'm 5'5", 56kg (123lb), I eat fast food maybe once every 10 days, because I'm not really into fast food. Exercise, well, if there's a prison for people who don't exercise, I'd probably be in the death row. I tried, with yoga.

What did I tell to the person who did my check up?

"You know, those fat...THEY'RE ALL BOOBS."

It made sense. Right? RIGHT?

*cries*

In other news, Ewa Michalak HM Classic, I love thee.

  • Did you know that those measurements can vary very much between different equipment being used? So don´t worry. Okay you say you don´t exercise, but I think that your diet and emotions etc. play a huge role as well, when it comes to your wellbeing and your body´s. Don´t get me wrong, exercise is good, but I´m not sure how much it really afects your body fat. Some people need more exercise and some less. Do you do anything that could be counted as exercise? Walk/ bicycle to work/school/other, do gardening, etc?

I have always been slim and lived a healthy lifestyle. I was once measured for free (went with a friend) and the results were: 29% fat. I didn´t believe it because I had not changed and had had some years previously very different results. I asked about this from my physiotherapist. She had a "more accurate" equipment, and the result was 19% . So there was a 10% difference!

Anyway, who said that a woman should have only 19% fat??? In my country a "ideal" woman is considered to have 22% fat.

So really, don´t worry if you don´t have any other reason to expect that you have much fat in your inner organs. We came to this conclusion with my physiotherapist that no ordinary person needs to have their fat measured. Maybe some professional athletes find those measurements useful? And you should then use the same equipment always, and not so much look at the actual numbers, but the differences between measurements.

Okay, I´m not saying that those measurement results you got were incorrect or correct. Just don´t take them for granted...

Happy for your EM success :)

  • The 'healthy range' is supposedly between 19-24% I think it is. I'm 5'6 and weigh 155lb and am within a healthy range. 19% is the ultimate low end of the healthy range and drop below that and they consider underweight(but of course they don't take into account some people's simple lack of body fat, but otherwise healthy body.)
