Bra collection and pregnancy/postpartum

Anyone else get sad after having a baby because all your pretty bras just don’t fit anymore? Did you hold onto them in hopes they would fit again someday? Get rid of them and move on to new bras? I keep looking at all my once well fitting pretty bras I worked so hard to collect, holding them saying “my precious” and I just can’t part with them. Many of them are just too small now. I’m planing another baby very soon, even though I’m only 9 months postpartum now. But I know in the end they aren’t going to fit, like ever. I guess I should drown my sorrow in shopping for new bras maybe?

  • Your breasts and ribcage can (and do) change with each pregnancy, and more so after especially if breastfeeding. I would say if they are ones you are fond of, hold on to them until after you are done having children, 2 years postpartum (or at least 1 year after you stop breastfeeding) to allow for your body to settle. It doesn't take much storage space to keep them, & saves a lot of heartache later if you do get back to that size. No need to add expense and regret by parting with them before you are ready (unless they are giving you more heartache by keeping them.)

But definitely buy yourself new ones that fit now for sure! :-)

  • Even my wireless bras did not fit. I thought after 4 years of breastfeeding, I would have my original breasts back. Nope. It seems that some of our experiences vary. Perhaps you and your lovely bras will enjoy a blissful reunion.....one can hope.
