Alteration success for P'n'P :D

Yaaay! A long while ago I started altering one of my bras, the 85C - Kappahl » (425090), but as I'm not particularly skillful with the sewing machine, my mom did all the work. We worked together brain-wise though, haha. We measured the rested state of the bra to be 76 cm (it stretched to 86 cm without distorting the wires, if anyone's interested) and started by cutting off 5 cm from both sides of the band. That turned out to be too little of a change, I had to hook the bra on the tighest setting and it'd still create a U-shape in the back, it rode up. Today, after a looong time... We picked it all up again :) We cut off another 5 cm from each side of the band, and it turned out great! The bra now measures 57 cm at rested state and fits me great around the back! There's some things left to do though. My shoulders are very small so the straps are chafing my armpits and everytime I'm reaching out for something it cuts into my skin and it hurts. The wire width is great, but we have to move the strap like 2 cm closer to the neck but that's not only it; we have to create more of a inwardfacing curve from the tip of the underwire to the new placing of the strap. There's folds on the outer edges of the cups because they simply can't fit my body, they're scaled too wide for me. So how's the overall fit after the alterations? (not counting the ones that'll come next)

A hell of a lot better, but the cups are verging on being too small, I'd say I would be better off in a 85D as opposed to the 85C it is, but it's absolutely nothing that is unwearable, since it's not super obviously too small. Just curious... Anyone else who's got that problem?

The wire width is great, the straps are either fine or too wide set, but the main problem here, provided with these things... Have you ever had a bra that folds in the space between the strap and the tip of the underwire? I'm curious if I'm rather alone with this :)

  • Yeah, me. Ideally, I also 'scoop out' the armholes of almost all my bras (which in some cases unfortunately is easier said than done) to make space for my pectoral 'wing'. The one bra I practised on so far went from seemingly roomy to obviously too small.

  • Oh that's unfortunate. I suspected it might be easier said than done so I'll be very careful and just take smidgeons off before I decide if I need to take more off or not. It interferes with my pectoral wing as well and besides that the cup/strap chafes my armpit.
