Updates, Notes and general Bra Fun!

Hi everyone! I hope everyone has been doing well. I've only got a couple months left till I take the test to become a certified Full Stack Web Developer. I'm SUPER nervous.

First, I want to give a shout out to all the NEW USERS here at Bratabase!
Welcome welcome welcome!
I know all the new information can be hard to digest, but do not worry. That's why we are here, is to help you!! I know that all the new measurements that Bratabase asks you to take can be confusing and hard to figure out where to begin the measurements for your horizontal perimeter and vertical perimeter.
I remember when I first began I was even confused by the Nip to Neck and Breast Base measurements. Please don't be afraid to ask if you are confused! And don't worry too much about being completely correct on your horizontal perimeter! As you begin buying better fitting bra's you will get to know your breasts better and will get better at taking the measurement it's self.
As you continue to wear better fitting bra's with properly tight bands, your breast tissue WILL move. Since almost all of us have pretty much been wearing bra's with bands 4" too large for us and cups 2+ cup sizes too small, our tissue has been pushed under our arms towards our sides. The process to reverse this tissue migration can be slow or fast. It was fairly slow for me since I have always done the scoop and swoop due to my small size. Generally women find they go up 1-4 cup sizes after wearing properly fitting bras.
So don't worry! You WILL find your breast root & you will figure out exactly where to begin your measurements.
And always, remember to have fun!! Bra's shouldn't be a strictly serious affair. Always have fun and push your boundaries with designs you would not normally purchase!!
But in the past few weeks, my desire to want to develop bras has come back to the forefront of my brain. I am beginning the design process. I'm thinking there's going to be about 3 styles, a bralette, a plunge and a balconet bra (with two versions of the balconet a fuller coverage and a lower coverage style). I'm going to create the bralette first. It will ofcourse have eye hooks as I do not believe any pull over style can actually create support for anyone. After all my time here I feel I have learned so much about what we all desire in bra's and most bra's lack these things! I will also not be creating any padded bras, though I think I will have lined bra's. I like lined bra's because they prevent nipple-show through and provide some additional support for those whom need it.
I have really found that I do not like padded bra's, like at all since the beginning of my bra journey. Before my bra journey I would have never even thought about wearing a non-padded bra with my barely there breasts and my protruding nipples. I have freed my nipples from their padded jail and they barely ever show through my bra & shirt! XD
Besides, they are just so hard to find a (almost) perfect fit in. I usually just end up making sure it is comfortable and not slipping all over the place. It's also tends to be very hard to make sure that the wire is sitting behind your root as you can not clearly see it like you can in a non-padded bra.
Oh, if anyone knows where I can get my hands on some cheap mannequins. Let me know! That would be awesome!
I have also been contemplating thoughts about getting a breast implants...for many reasons...some of which are just to be able to purchase bra's in my size more easily...everything I love simply isn't offered in my size anymore...and now my size is even more confusing since most my 28D's and other well fitting bra's are becoming too small....but I have so much fear that buying a cup larger will result in something much too big....It's been a serious contemplation in my mind for a while now. I have about a 31"/32" bust and would like to go up to about a 36" bust..... it's just...feelings I've never really dealt with in the past as I've always been more than happy with my chest size....
AND I PROMISE! Once I get a new measure tape I will begin adding all my bra's into the bratabase. I have SOO many just sitting there un-measured, reviewed or pictured. Perhaps I should start a blog. If only time was endless!!!

  • How exciting! So much here! I’m in the middle of moving and taking a break, so I’ll respond more when I have a bit more time.

  • I don't think everyone can find their root. I can't. I don't have a distinct line on the top or the side.
