Bra Preferences?
Everyone whom is not new here knows that I have been talking about designing my own bra's for quite a long time now. During my design process and inbetween learning about all the technical aspects of designing/drafting & sewing lingerie I have run across some questions of my own that I would like to accumulate some data about.
I was think about making cradle of the bra completely non-stretch. Since I do not particularly like it when my wires stretch/widen when I put on a bra I have been considering taking any stretchy materials off of this section. So that when you put the bra on, the width of the wires will remain the same as when the bra is not on your body. Ofcourse the bands would still have some stretch, as well as the cups to accommodate the 3D body.
What do you ladies think?
(1) Do you prefer to have the wires widen a bit when you put the bra on or do you wish that they wouldn't?
(2) What does everyone think about banded bras?
Sometimes I feel like having a bandless bra contributes to the wires digging into the sternum underneath the breast when there is no band there to anchor the bra to the body. But sometimes I really like that aesthetic of having a very streamlined bra without the extra band beneath the cups.
(3) What about using regular (or semi-stretch) fabrics for straps instead of the current strap elastics?
You can set up a regular fabric in the same way as a strap elastic to be able to fully shorten or elongate. So why are we using these skinny elastics that easily dig in and become uncomfortable instead of a nice double faced satin/silk or other flat comfortable fabric.
Let me know what you all think!

I like banded. I like somewhat flexible wires...not super soft that easily distort, but overly firm ones are also not my favourite. I like my porridge juuust right. ;)
I like some flex to the wire.
That is because of my asymmetry -- my larger (left) side is fine with almost any but the widest of wires, but my smaller (right) side needs very narrow, otherwise the wire slides out of my imf. I solve this by bending the wire a little if they are really really firm, but I really wish I didn't have do that.
I also like banded bras.
As for straps... It's a common issue for me that straps I can't adjust long enough (I'm low set, in addition to being fairly tall) give me major shoulder pain, and those bras are actually unwearable for me. I also like wide straps (like a single strap being wide, not wide set). I think the reason elastic straps are used is because they are fairly flat under clothing. But to me, as long as they are adjustable, I'm good with anything.
