Hello,

Please can I ask for advice about buying bras for my 10 year old daughter. She is now beyond the budding stage and crop top sort of bras don't seem to stay in position. She is very tall for her age (about 5'7") and very active (swimmimg and basketball/netball). We are in the uk. I did buy her some crop tops when she was budding to wear under her sports team kits as she is the only girl in her basketball squad but she has now moved on from budding and I am wondering when is the right time for a bra? She measures 27" underbust but the fullest part measurement is tricky as she swims a lot and so she has a triangle shape. I have been looking online for pretty non padded non wired bras in a 28 back a-c cup ( so I can see which fits best) but the only place that appears to do any are M&S, and I'm not sure their bands are reliable?
Can anyone advise on the best place to look, is there a great shop for first bras or smaller bras that I am unaware of being a bigger size myself?
Thank you for reading and for any help.

  • I'm not sure how many of us are in the UK, but I think there are some. Many of us that are odd sizes end up buying bras on line, tho I thought the UK had better selection in general, in higher end shops?

But my first thought was - sports bras - they usually run pretty small, so you could try a sports bra in a 30 b and see if that fits.

My second thought was - if she's so athletic, does she actually WANT pretty bras? or would she be happy only wearing sports bras?

  • I think i've seen some teenage bras in John Lewis and Debenhams :-)
