Don't listen or assume. Try them on for size.
I wanted to give my Mom a bra for her birthday. I suspected she was wearing the wrong size because, well, she always buys whatever is on sale and her profile has been lacking in appeal.
I asked her what size she was wearing.
"34D", she said.
Ok.
Measure me your underbust.
"29 inches comfy", she said.
And you're over bust?
"37", she said.
Hu huh. And you're wearing a 34 band?
"Yes", she said. "I get bulges otherwise and you can see it through my clothes." I assumed she was talking about underarm cutlets and back fat. She is 68. Small, but still, 68 years old.
So, I ordered size 65F and 70E BM Ewas for her to try and I cut the size tags off so she wouldn't form opinions(or have price guilt) before trying them.
She came today.
She tried the bras.
"They're all too small", she said.
"In the band?" I asked.
"No. In the cup".
"But you have no bulges?"
"Yes. Still bulges. Come in and see."
I went into the bedroom.
She was wearing the 30F. She had quadding and center spillage but no underarm cutlets or back fat bulges (which is what I thought she was complaining about and why she was always buying a bugger band.)
I give her my 65FF Fluo to try. Perfection. Even better on her than me, as I'm a full FF and an inch larger underbust.
Moral of the story: she needed a smaller band, narrow wires and gore and a cup 3 sizes bigger than she was wearing.
"What size is this bra, April?"
"30FF, Mom. You're a 30FF and not 34D. Now, here. Take these 2 (Fluo and Antonina). They're brand new. I'll buy more. Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas, Mom. Life is too short to wear a bra that has a shitty fit. Even at 68 years old you deserve to feel supported and sexy."

What a great story! I'm glad your mom was willing to try them out.
Lol, my mum wouldn't even consider trying them. Nooooo, it's too tight. A DD CUP? That's for porn stars!
