Change sizes

So, a good friend of mine knows that I am into bras and fitting and such. When I have visited with her in the past, we went to Change the first time, and Scarlet the second time. The second time she saw me in the bras I was trying and I had been pointing out the aspects that fit or did not fit. So I’m glad that she’s asking me. This comes as a second bra fitting post in one of my Facebook groups came up, almost a year to the date from the one last year that had 302 comments.

In any case, she came to me asking for help measuring and I linked my two favourite videos to her, with the intention of actually making one for the 6 measurements calculator. I actually filmed a few but had interruptions or they didn’t come out well. But she messaged me saying she did the abtf measurements and got 36H. She mentioned that she had one bra that was a perfect fit, so I asked what it was, and she says 36H. I was also clarifying with the other bras she mentioned the size system. At some point she said that US and UK size was the same and I was like, no it isn’t! But then I looked on the change site and it says US/UK sizes are the same in the conversion chart!

So it became a huge source of confusion and frustration and my lovely friend is already so overwhelmed, but she knows that she needs to get it all figured out because she’s got back issues and two chronic autoimmune illnesses that make it super important that she’s comfortable and well supported. So I told her to read the abtf beginners guide when she can, taking breaks as needed, and I would sleuth stuff out for her on my end.

So what I want to know is whether the Change conversion guide/charts are rubbish and inaccurate due to lumping US and UK sizes together (and therefore being hideously confusing), or is there something else about them and their sizing that gives them just cause to do that?

The size guide conversion is embedded in the guide page here as a pop up:

I’m leaning towards just telling her to ignore how Change converts and to 1) check the fit of the bra she’s saying fits and 2) redo measurements and confirm the UK size, because her bra says 36H is equivalent to 36FF US/UK, but if she did abtf calculator, it should default to UK, and 36H EU and 36H UK should not be the same. Basically, let’s start st the very beginning (a very good place to start)...

Appreciate any feedback and help. I really want to help her, and she really wants to be helped...but is feeling very overwhelmed.

  • EU and US use the single letter system in general, while UK uses the double letter. The link you gave appears to use the single letter. A 36 band would be US or UK, while a EU equivalent would be an 80.

  • So, yep, a Change 80H would equate to a US 36H or a UK 36FF aka 36:8 in general, but as you know each brand, style, and model can vary, as well as her shape and fullness level can effect her size needs as well. What brand is her 36H that fits ? Knowing that can help us know which system they use.

I entered my measurements into their calculator and it gave me "???" ha!
