Kind of size related question mark

I'm thinking of getting off the pill.
I don't use it as contraception, and my ovarian cyst is completely dried out and my obgyn is almost positive it won't be coming back (but can you ever be sure?) Her recommendation is to keep taking it anyway just because it makes my life a lot easier (period duration and flow and most importantly the pain.)
But lately it's started to affect my mood severely and the water retention and bloating has been awful. I'm stressed out beyond belief and I've had some heart pounding moments-literally my heart is pounding, following taking the pill. And finally, I would just like to not feed synthetic hormones to my body (I take levonorgestrel/ethinylestradiol combo).

Why I'm hesitant? I bought bras. Lots of bras in 30GG/32G and I know some of my boob gain has been due to the pill (or at least I hope so). I do have a bunch of 32FFs and 30Gs to fall back on if I lose volume but dammit I'm so tired of constant fluctuations (and so is my wallet) and I am not prepared to deal with it on a higher scale.
Not to mention the fact that last time I got off the pill my breasts went from perky and firm to pendulous and soft during the weaning period. They didn't so much go down in volume as they did in shape. I'm dead scared they will be hanging down to my belly if I stop now.

  • First of all *hugs* but honestly if it's affecting your mood, I'll say to stop it (while observing the weaning period of course)

But if it is worrying you about the size/shape fluctuations, is there perhaps a lower dosage/different brand that has less side effects that you can take? I know all ocps have side effects but some have a lower range than others, and may suit you better? Unless, you've tried them all before, in which case I'd more be on the side of stopping them.

  • I second @Frazzleberry's suggestion of dropping to a lower dosage before stopping them. It may help soften the blow while also giving you an idea if it will have an effect on your body.

I went on and off BCPs several times in my life, mostly due to cycle issues not contraception, and I fared best on the low estrogen ones, or the low dose tri-tier one (3 weeks of slightly increased dose but all lower than the standard.)

My breasts never grew when on any of them, but I always got increased peach fuzz on my face that never went away. :-/

I understand your concerns and feel your pain. I hope you can reach a decision that you can be happy with and that the effects it has are only positive in every possible way. Big hugs. We are here for you!!
