broken wire relacement

I have a @Curvy Kate 'Princess' Balcony bra (CK6001) that I'm trying to rescue. M y friend was going to throw it away but I stopped her and she gave it to me to try to fix. All that is wrong with it besides being slightly stretched out is a snapped underwire. I measured it at 14" in length. Does anyone know where to buy replacement underwires? Thanx!

  • Most sewing supply stores sell a variety of replacement wires. Check JoAnne Fabrics for example. Online, Amazon is a quick and easy option, though you want to know the size and style of wire you need as length alone is not an indicator. You have straight U shape, the lazy J, high wing/low gore, short n wide, flat bottom, firm vs flex style, etc and so on. These are not the professional descriptions mind you, just what I call them. 😄

Being able to take the broken wire into a fabric/craft store and compare may be a more viable option if you aren't wanting to change the shape.

  • There are some really great lingerie sellers online. My favorite is Porcelynne- she stockd a wide array of wires. Take the not broken wire from the other cup and compare it to her wire charts (you might have to print them). When you find one that is close to the size and shape of the original wire that’s a good match. You should buy a set and replace both sides. I think she sells sets for something like $3, and shipping is cheap.

One thing to keep in mind also is wire gauge. The more bendy the wire, the lower the gauge. So you should keep that in mind too when wire shopping.
