Is it possible for the outer top side (where the strap meets the cup) of a cup to gap because the bra is too *small*? Cleo Marcie 28F is too small for my larger breast (not ridiculously so, but I notice slight quadboobing and flattening of my breast), but I have a small gap where the cup meets the strap. I know gapping can happen both because a bra is too big and because the shape is wrong, but can it happen because it’s too small? I do not have gapping there at all with my left, smaller breast. (P.S. I plan to try the 28FF! I hope it fits better because I adore the look of this bra. Also, I’m definitely going to have to get used to wearing a band that’s actually small enough for me.)

Do you mean that the strap is "in the air" instead of following the body ? Will this go away if you manage to pull the underwire further back in the armpit ?
Or by "stretching" while pulling your shoulders back ?
I mean, if it gaps then it's either that something pushes it away or the geometry does not work.
Which could also imply that the bra signals an incorrect and potentially painful back support.
My straps to cup connection rarely touch my body. Anywhere from ridiculously too small all the way to too big, it can and does happen.
Yes, if the cup is overfull, it can push that area off the body. Unless the cup is structured exactly as your breast slope is, it can/will cause that area to not sit flush against the body. I don't classify that gaping though. In those types of fits, if that section is filled you would have sideboob escape going on. 😬
