International Shipping Woes
I placed an order with Bluebella for a bra I've been watching that finally went on sale. It ended up costing $20 Canadian. Yesterday, I received an email from a courier company saying that I had to pay them $20.68 for duty/import fees (which included the courier fee of $14). I had two options of payment.
It turns out that I have a third payment option that the courier company "forgot" to tell me about. I can pay the Canadian Border Services directly for a cost of $4. I have not decided my course of action yet. I think that I am lucky so far in that I have never paid fees for any of my bras that have come over from the UK before and it stings.

I don’t think that a $20 bra should have any import/duty charges. Definitely double check the limits and contest the charges if the bra is within the duty free range.
Goods $20 CAD or less are exempt. Charges are 5% GST. Unless you are in a province with HST. There’s zero reason for paying $20 more IMO. The $4 one maaaybe, if it was a little bit more than $20 CAD. Contest it if you can.
