So, I went in store to try on a Clara in 32J, juuust to see if maybe I can fit into it.. because every once in a while I start to wonder if maybe my fit issues (not filling the bottom of a cup, gap at strap, probably something else) are due to me misjudging my size..or something else I'm missing.

Well for one thing I know I'm definitely in the 28-30 back range (although EM's 65 have been pretty good to me lately..so leaning more towards a 30? But the ones I got have been firmer).. anyways, going back on track, the 32 band was too big and the cup too small (spilling out the sides (<--slightly for this one) and top)

So there's that at least...so I have a semi-reaffirmation that I am somewhere around a 30K? Or at least the cup depth that it offers is what I'd generally need.. my issues I guess are more a shape thing? Idk

On a side note I really liked that colourway..it was the Praline I believe? It's really pretty.. it's a kind of mauve colour

  • Based on your measurements, I think you definitely fall in that category of people who will be perfectly fine in a 32 band if they have a small to medium bust, because they're very lean (not much squish). However, to support the weight of your particular size bust, a bra needs to be very snug and you can only get that with a 30 (or in some cases a 28). If the smaller-bust people with your torso measurements were wearing a 30, they would have really bad cup distortion, but when someone with a similar torso has a pair of 15" boobs pulling the cup/wire structure down and away from the body, that is more than enough counterweight to prevent most cup distortion.

Of course if someone with your size torso and bust goes down ENOUGH in band they will eventually get to that point where the tightness is so excessive that they still get cup distortion and all sorts of other fit problems but that is not the case here I believe.

  • Thanks @wendybien . Just a question I'm throwing out there, with regards to the more lean small-medium bust, how much inches up from the snug back measurement do they usually go up? (And I'm throwing this out to anyone really)

I ask because, I remember some time back, there was a whole +2/+0/+4 debate going on...and I know I blog I used to follow mentioned that they preferred the adding of inches...she was around an H/HH? And I do know other smaller bust + leaner bodied people prefer something less "accurate". I wonder if part of it also has to do with how self-supportive our breasts are, because the more weight that's hanging down the more you want to have a good anchor, if that makes any sense.. I know cup size of course will contribute to that factor, but maybe there's more to it than just that?

So I'm just curious as to where the crossover range lies in terms of preferred band length..
