Bulging over top of band
Why am I getting bulging over the top of my band near my sides? I mean like my shoulder blades. It's happening with multiple bras. Some are worst than others. I had this issue with a bra I tried at a store and the lady told me "It's just back fat". Yes I'm not TONED but I don't have any excess back fat. I'm already on the low end of my weight chart for my height. I don't need to lose any weight. Plus the bulging is above the band, not below it. The lady insisted that was just how my body is. I undid the band and showed her that I have no back fat but she still said "Well that's just how bras fit you..."
I've included images to show the issue. BTW I also have a flared rib cage and slight pectus excavatum so what might look like a bulge under the red bra is just how my rib cage is.
The red and beige bra are 32DD and the blue one polka dot one is a 30E (uk). It's stretched out a bit in the band but the last couple I tried on in the store were my size and they did this. Are the bands too high for me?

Does your band feel too tight? Put the bra on backwards/upside down with cups on your back and fasten band under boobs - this way you can feel what the band really fits like by taking the cups out the picture. My immediate thoughts are you either need to size up the band or.....maybe you just have some squish. When I put a bra on I reach up underneath the band on each side and pull my skin down to smooth things out. Sounds simple but I never thought to do that little procedure until I read that tip on reddit. And it does help me not have any bulging around the band.
I think this band might be a size too tight, and the elastic is tighter than the band material (which is normal) causing this bulging, especially if you don’t have much squish. This is normal on us squishy folks but if you are pretty lean/muscular then the elastic is digging into your muscle, which must be uncomfortable and is probably unnecessary. I might try a band up and a cup size down (sister sizing).
