Bra into bikini ...?

Olá! "(hi" in Portuguese)

I am entertaining the idea that maybe I could make a bikini top out of one of my bras, by lining it with a bikini fabric. Has anyone tried this?
Are the cups of a bra the same material of the ones in bikinis? If they are more absorbent the result would not be good ^^"

Thanks for reading! :)

  • I actually did this many years ago. It does work. Swimsuit fabric doesn’t fray when cut, so it’s easy to work with. It really depends on what kind of bra you use. If it’s a structured fabric cotton like cup, then yes it’s going to retain some water but not much. If you use a push-up bra then it’s like a big sponge and will soak it up water, unless it has some other type of push-up padding within the cup. I’ve also used this same method when I made some dance costumes.

  • @happy2brashop, thank you for the input.
My bras are freyas, t-shirt bras or plunge bras. They all have a thin and "hard" cup, but I have no idea what that is made of. The freya Idol, Chi and Allure seem to have the same kind of cup. The freya Deco is a bit thicker.
