Bralette help and other stuff

So what do you guys think about this type of bra, appearance-wise? Regardless if that's something you would consider wearing or not. I read on the comment section for the tutorial and so many said that it looked tacky and so on, I'd like to hear why if any of you think so :) Personally I think it looks pretty. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HarVh-OlZDI/UJgIwtjyKaI/AAAAAAAAAUM/ySXcxC9n10E/s1600/final.JPG

Also, I just recently bought a crappy little bralette worth about 5 British Pounds, I only bought it to use as a template. I have traced the cups because I made sure I picked a size that would cover my breasts properly (size XL). The cups aren't exactly sturdy, but they're not too flimsy for me either. I'm looking to make a pair of triangle cups from scratch using sturdier fabric, I'm thinking of using power mesh? Any ideas on what kinda fabric I could use for it would be highly appreciated :) Have a little looksie if you want :) http://prettynpetitej.blogspot.se/2013/07/random-little-bralette.html

When I traced the cups I made minor alterations, I shortened the cups a little and designed them to allow for wider straps as well (about twice the width of the straps in the photos). I haven't decided yet but I'm thinking about sewing the cups together a little in the middle to make the "gore" higher. Hmm... I'll have to see :) I'll for sure make a sturdier band design, 3 or 4 hooks, leotard back. Anyone got tips on where to buy supplies? I basically need everything you'd need for a regular everyday bra, except for underwires and underwire channels.

Pinging Branarchist, because I saw that you use power mesh on your bras, where do you get the fabric from?

  • Really cute bralette! Super curious about how it will look when done! I will order my fabric from here; http://shop.bwear.se/stretch-tyger/ Expensive but I figure it will be a good quality since it's a bra makers supply reseller :)

  • Oooh... Those are very expensive! O.o Will keep it in mind though! Here's a little album showing my very first attempt to make a bralette! :) It's actually the very first time I've sewed something outside of school, and I sucked at it in school. http://imgur.com/a/QGXFB#0
